Galbraith predicted on Diane Rehm today the deficit commission will give up
I thought that was interesting. He said the commission will not be able to get the 14 votes it needs to agree with any reduction ideas.

The whole thing was political theater anyways; a chance for Obama to embarrass Congressional Republicans who asked for one and then blocked it. But it's reassuring to hear Galbraith say that.

2. If they agreed on a plan to cut and gut SSI and the Democratic leadership passed it. No good would
come of it.

5. Interestingly, there were more areas of agreement it seemed to me, than disagreement
It was such a pleasure to hear them actually talk to each other, rather than talk over each other. I know a lot of folks find Diane boring but when I can turn it on (I was on my way to the feed store), I always learn something.

6. Diane is the only national political media I can listen to anymore
Because she finds thoughtful guests (usually) and forces them to answer questions without devolving into talking points (she even corrects people who say "Democrat" instead of "Democratic").

Boring is good. Boring is how problems eventually get solved.

7. There's a DUer whose friends with her. She says she's a Dem!
:D I have to admit she's always struck me as one of our own but it was good to hear it first hand.

And yes, she's the only one I listen to as well. I actually have someone hired to do chores on Friday mornings so I can listen to her news roundup. Always a good conversation!
