Russ Feingold's mistake is caring about America
No one in DC cares more for America than Russ Feingold. It will be tragic if we lose his wisdom in the Senate. I suspect his going against the Military Industrial Complex caused this well-financed, coordinated effort to unseat him.

Feingold voted against the Authorization for Use of Military Force Against Iraq in Oct. 2002.

When leaders in both chambers announced their intention to introduce funding bills without timetables for troop withdrawal, Feingold immediately criticized the decision.

He stated:

"Under the President’s Iraq policies, our military has been over-burdened, our national security has been jeopardized, and thousands of Americans have been killed or injured. Despite these realities, and the support of a majority of Americans for ending the President’s open-ended mission in Iraq, congressional leaders now propose a supplemental appropriations bill that does nothing to end this disastrous war. I cannot support a bill that contains nothing more than toothless benchmarks and that allows the President to continue what may be the greatest foreign policy blunder in our nation’s history. There has been a lot of tough talk from members of Congress about wanting to end this war, but it looks like the desire for political comfort won out over real action. Congress should have stood strong, acknowledged the will of the American people, and insisted on a bill requiring a real change of course in Iraq."

In closing, let me add that he was the ONLY one in DC to vote to defend the US Constitution by opposing the USA PATRIOT ACT, which virtually destroyed our Fourth Amendment.

He has served his constituents with character and honor.

2. That's the damn truth right there. It is shocking and disgusting to me to see what is happening in
that race. He is a true public servant of the best kind.

3. Hard to argue that. Russ is a real servant of the people and actually respects the Constitution
even when it conflicts with his desires.

Russ is honorable and that is beyond rare today.

4. From Ashland to Beloit, from Hudson to Green Bay
We'd have never known how great he is if he hadn't decided to act on his conscience. I am not sure that Wisconsin, the right leaners, or the Obama administration realize how signficant his loss could be.

6. This is indeed the saddest potential loss we are looking at tomorrow
I just about cry each time I see the suggestion he will lose his seat. He is a one of a kind. I can imagine no bigger loss than that of the man with the utmost in personal and political integrity. If it does happen, hopefully he will find another place in which to serve, one where he will be more appreciated for the contribution he makes to our society.

Heartbreaking, really.

Sam

He has stood up against "Big Government" at every single opportunity and yet these hypocrites will vote 100% against him just because he has a D after his name and not for anything they say they stand for...

12. A state that throws away an honest guy , did not deserve him
shame on Wisconsin for overdosing on Koolaid, if they throw him out.

He'll probably find a more lucrative way to make a living for his family, but he probably should not run again.

13. Wisconsin has elected him 3 times already
and because of your DU brethren in this state, we likely will again.

So, please kindly don't pull the generic "shame on Wisconsin for overdosing on Koolaid" bullshit. Especially BEFORE the results are in. kthxbai

15. I sincerely hope he weathers the storm
and I speak from experience here.. MY state threw out Gray Davis...to gain what? ARNOLD??

and the state re-elected him too..

Sometimes the crazies in a state just take over...

Sometimes the rest of us prevail, but many times we do not.

16. Yes, I am ultra sensitive about this.
He's my Senator and the outcome will have a serious impact on my state as well as the country.

As a political junkie, he's my idol. My Elvis.

I cannot accept this. I just can't.

17. We were in Tahiti when Arnold won & the only tv show not in Tahitian was CNN-I
I was glued to the set because I could not believe that he would win..and yet he did.. The foreign people who were staying where we were , were all laughing their asses off that the Terminator had "terminated" Calif..

We early-voted and were so hoping that anyone-but-arnold would win.

20. People complain about pork barrel spending and social programs
Edited on Mon Nov-01-10 07:40 PM by Dawson Leery
given to others, for themselves, they want all of the pork and all of the social programs.
Gray Davis and Jon Corzine ran into this problem. They tried to give everyone a some of what they wanted, and the people voted to oust them.
