MI GOP deeply offended. My question: Did anybody stomp on his head?

GOP, the party of the easily offended, is willing to ride the free publicity into the next millenium.

Keep in mind that MI is where an Asst AG has been insanely following and harassing the head of the student govt at the U of Mich in Ann Arbor. MI AG Mike Cox defends that nutcase claiming it's his 1st Amendment right because he does it off the clock.

Mike Cox, what are you gonna do with this?

Party to file complaint against Macomb County prosecutor

By CHRISTINA HALL
Free Press Staff Writer

The Macomb County Republican Party is preparing a complaint for the state Attorney General’s Office, with audio recording, of a profane and allegedly threatening message left Saturday by Macomb County Prosecutor Eric Smith to county commission candidate James Perna.

Perna is running against Smith’s brother, Bob Smith Jr., for the 12th District seat.

Party Chairman Jared Maynard said today the party also is preparing to file an attorney grievance complaint. Requests for investigations with the Attorney Grievance Commission in Detroit are confidential unless and until a formal complaint is filed with the Attorney Discipline Board, said Larry Dubin, professor of law at University of Detroit Mercy School of Law.

Michigan State Police Capt. Harold Love said his agency will follow up on a complaint made by Perna with State Police. If charges are sought, the matter could be referred to a special prosecutor or the Attorney General’s Office, said Joy Yearout, spokeswoman for the office.

Smith admitted that he left a profane message on Perna’s voice mail, in which he called Perna a liar and said that “we are going to (expletive) bury you” over a negative campaign mailer sent by the county Republican Party.

Eric Smith said he regretted leaving the message and apologized for his language.

2. Sorry, the person who made the profane and illegal call was a DEMOCRAT
The Candidate called was a Republican:

Had some problems with this till I re-read the article and saw that this was a County Commissioner's Race in Malcomb County Michigan. Thus it is the 12th County Commissioner District.

3. The ad which inspired the call was bought and paid for by the MI GOP
