So, looks like Army Information Systems Command-Pentagon is poking around my blog
Gee, I'm getting all the luminaries.

Got bored and decided to look at my server stats. And for some reason, I clicked on this user. Looks like they were doing a Google blog search for "Air America Radio" and my site popped up. They were looking at this article:

http://ltradio.blogspot.com/2007/01/air-america-sale-whats-next.html

Okay, nothing too incriminating, right?

Interesting to note that their outclick was a link to a Wikipedia article about "National Empowerment Television," a failed neocon propaganda channel back in the 1990s.

Here's the lowdown:

And it looks like they enjoy websurfing over at the Pentagon:

And no, I'm not scared. Just kinda bemused by it all. Kinda interesting to see what they're looking at over there.

1. Since you're so knowledgeable, would you call this a live access
ar a data mining capture since we've just been told about another way that they are recording us.

2. how do you guys do that stuff?
I am really a dumb idjit when it comes to this computer stuff. How does one find out the isp of someone that has posted somewhere? How do you find out that someone's been hitting on your computer? I am serious about this, I work as a carpenter and somehow missed out on all the techy good stuff.

3. if you have a website then
you can look at the stats in the manager's page.

Or you can pull them off the stats and enter them directly in a whois site like:

4. They didn't hit on my computer
Just the blog.

I use Sitemeter to keep track of traffic to the site.

http://www.sitemeter.com/?a=home

As for hits on the home computer, It's likely not happening in that way.

5. It's an actual person because there wouldn't be any way for this counter...
to track a packet sniffing type of system. They just make copies of all the packets.

This was an actual person. Who knows, maybe it's just an employee looking up AAR?

6. That's what I figured
Sitemeter only tracks real, live people surfing. It doesn't track bots.

7. I think that's all it is, someone just browsing.
Any serious data miner would not be running at 1024x768. I would also think that Penatagon data miners would be smart enough to use another top-level domain than a .mil.

8. What I'm wondering is...
Who's in charge of maintaining their systems? They're still using IE6 and an old version of Javascript.

9. monitoring your site
If a 'homeland security' type of agency wants to monitor your site, I think they could have the capability to do it surreptitiously, such as accessing the facilities which house T1/T3 lines and router hardware and tap the data directly by hooking into the biggest pipe feeds they want.

Or they can subscribe thru an innocent, commercial ISP account without advertising they were working out of NSA, Army Security Command, ect.
