18. It is even worse when people treat politics as sports teams.

11. Because they're from San Francisco.

Apparently, there's a requirement to politicize every fucking thing.

8. IT's mainly about hating George Steinbrenner and his legacy, not the players themselves.
Edited on Mon Nov-01-10 10:07 PM by Ken Burch
The way he seemed to take all the fun out of the game, seemed to try to get rid of all the humor and eccentricity that were traditionally part of baseball, the shouting at managers, the insane expectation that high salaries can buy a guarantee of perfection and victory, even the way he imposed the damn Army recruit grooming code on a team that plays in New York City of all places. And the Spawn of George are even MORE uptight, humorless and inflexible. It's like a lot of people felt about the Cowboys back in the "America's Team" era.

Steinbrenner and his kids made the Yankees a symbol of the soulless, arrogant corporatization of sports. Once that family lets go of the team(if it EVER does)the Yankee-hatred will likely dissipate greatly.

9. Yes, this is how an insane God delivers its message
through the success or failure of a region's sports teams.

If Auburn or Alabama win the national championship, we're screwed.

and oh yeah: WAR EAGLE!

10. It's just fashionable to hate the Yankees, that's all.
Hence you see people rooting for whatever team is playing them, even when their own team has no stake in it.

Edited on Mon Nov-01-10 10:36 PM by AsahinaKimi
San Francisco may be a liberal city, but politics has nothing to do with Sports.. look at the team's Roster and where the players have come from! Not many Californians.. They are just a sports team, nothing more. (Well they are World Series champs but that has nothing to do with politics) No one said the same thing when the 49ers won 5 superbowls...

This is just Silly!

15. Don't take it too seriously...
Nobody really thinks the Giants' win has anything to do with liberals and conservatives. Sports shouldn't mix with politics. I'd hate to find out how many of my fellow fans have the exact opposite political viewpoints as me.

Having said that, the likability of the Texas Rangers dropped considerably each time I saw W in the stands.
