Just heard it for the 3,596th time on CNN by Lindsey Graham. It's just soooo stupid. Like the words and the actions we say and do have such a powerful magical power. If that's the case - why weren't we winning the war back when everyone was saying rah-rah-rah things?

What a crock!

We need to be able to come up with a comeback when people say that.

5. What emboldens the enemy is for them to hear our commanders
say that we do not have 9000 more troops to send in. If *ush would listen to his advisers they would not have to divulge our specific inadequacies to the world!

7. Killing makes the enemy downright SUICIDAL - as in Suicide Bombings!!
Edited on Wed Jan-31-07 05:59 PM by patrice
Death and Killing are the STIMULUS to Death and Killing.

What part of this is beyond their comprehension?

Being against this War doesn't embolden those who think "we won" - why go to War?

Being against this War doesn't embolden those who are now and have for decades killed members of other Muslim sects for reasons that WE have NOTHING to do with, except that We are IN THE WAY of something that's going to happen anyway.

Being against this War doesn't embolden those who are running away from that region. (Perhaps to become "emboldened" later - elsewhere in the World - to get even for the losses that they cannot forget. Or does Cheney assume everyone can be bought?

Being against this War does embolden Palestine, maybe that's the real problem.

8. We should all start using the phrase
playing into the terrorists hands. That's what we did when we went to Iraq and that's what we'll be doing if we attack Iran.

9. As a propaganda meme: expect to hear it 1,000,000,000 more times
I believe it was Goebbels who first successfully outlined the Bushevik Principle of Propaganda, when he said it needed to be both repetitious and simpleminded

It emboldens the enemy

15. There ya go, it's percolating into the mainstream. Looks like we'll just have to "do without"
for a while and jettison ol' Democracy, until we win this here multigenerational War on Islam.

11. Here you go:
The enemy appears to be sufficiently bold already. They were bold when public opinion in the US was solidly behind the war, and they're bold now that it isn't. What emboldens them is the fact that foreign troops have invaded their country, imposed a politcal system that disenfranchises them, and remain indefinitely as occupiers. What you're talking about is magical thinking: the belief that if we all clap louder, the insurgency and the civil war in Iraq will go away. That hope is patently absurd, and anyone who espouses it is either a propagandist or an idiot.

21. Please don't scream
it will just embolden the enema

or should that be anemone?

I am not sure what can be done about it. People do get motivation and encouragement from feeling like they are winning or that their opponent is going to give up soon. But if we give up our free speech rights to defeat them, then they have already won. Just because I am against this war does not mean I supported Saddam or support Sadr or Iran. I have always been torn by the war since it started. If only we had a commander in Chief we could trust.
