The FUCKING media. They make me scream.
Innocuous?

"Governor Martin O'Malley is leading former Governor Bob Ehrlich by just 10 percentage points."

What the FUCK???

"just 10"????????

Imagine a GOP lead of that size:

Governor Fucknutz has a COMMANDING 10 percent lead over his challenger." (don't even name the dem if you can avoid it.)

Arrrrgh!!!!

1. Oh yeah....They talk "commanding" even if it's a seven point lead..if you're a Repuke.
It's VERY clear that the M$M is in the tank for them. They're getting less and less shy about showing it.

If we don't have some kind of freaking media reform, we're screwed.

9. Here in Georgia is the same...
I stopped watching the news because each commercial is rethugs rethugs rethugs.Where do they get all this money???? Nathan Deal (rethug crook) versus Roy Barnes X Dem Gov. Nathan has 10 campaign ads out on TV. Every commercial between shows is Deal Deal Deal. I'm sick of them all.

10. I just turned it off as well.....The money question is quite germane...
What with "no disclosure" at play in the US Chamber of Commerce who appear to be a clearing house for all sorts of shadowy funds.

We HAVE to implement media reform...I don't have "the blueprint", but it's something progressives must attend to..It's key, IMO.

Here are some progressive arguments for the reinstatement of The Fairness Doctrine.

11. Tell me about it.
I'm in South Carolina, but get my TV from Disgusta. It's not just Nathan Deal that's making me sick. It's Casey Cagle and that shitbag, Johnny Issakson. The only thing that makes me sicker than seeing them on every damn commercial is that these scum of the earth are going to likely be elected/re-elected.

2. Just another way corporate america tries to stop D GOTV efforts, they hope by repeating how
great the R's are doing today it will cause D's to stay home instead of going to the polls. At least this election cycle here in my state they haven't purged the voting records again like they did in 2008, I had to register 3 times, the last time I did it through the Democratic office instead of the Secretary of State as I did the first 2 times after finding out I was purged from the voter records.

I don't know what we can do about it though. I'm open to suggestions for media reform activism (short of just turning it off). We don't have cable so I get most of my news online, but can still stream if I need to.

PS-O'Malley ran a good campaign. Not surprised he's winning.

Keep remembering that. The "likely" voter model is older white people - not minorities.

5. I agree!
This is why we need the FAIRNESS DOCTRINE!!!!!

If they are not going to support the truth, then they have no right to use public airwaves.

13. Yep...Media reform is essential.
and I think the Fairness Doctrine should be re-examined in light of the "new age" of multiple media outlets, etc.

Those who claim it's a "violation" of free speech need to read the Supreme Court Ruling regarding it in 1969. It's at the top of this article by FAIR that argues for it's reinstatment.

Seriously. I heard that one a couple of weeks ago. A few points is "well below" in MSM-land. And, they pay these fucks large sums of money to spew that stupidity...

20. Why do you think they call it the "fuckin' media"
Because it's fucked! The people with the big money who own the GOP, owns the media too. The top 2% don't have enough votes to play fair, so they cheat to win. Because they can!

21. I know!
They are so obvious and so ridiculous. If a Republican is 4-6 points behind then they talk like he/she will have a good chance to beat the Democrat. If a Democrat is ahead they gloss over it and hardly mention it. On Morning Joe this am they went through all the races like this -- talking up the Republicans. They waited to talk about CA last, spent two seconds on talking about that senate race -- looks like Boxer will prevail or something like that and didn't even mention AK.

26. Chuck Todd said it best last night. A 7 point lead in a national vote is a blowout, but in....
congressional or local votes, a 7-10 point lead is really a toss up.

29. Turn off your TV
Not just today, but everyday. That shit is poison. If I could block the cable news channels on my feed I would. As it is, I just avoid them. I watch the occasional baseball or hockey game, stuff on the Discovery Networks and that's about it. Everything else is movies.

I refuse to take part in anything else because, frankly, its all bullshit.

31. SOS, ten years later.
Same crap in 2000: everything relating to Gore had a negative bias and if they bothered to report on Bush at all it had a positive bias. Of course there wasn't much to report on Bush since he couldn't string four words together to make a sentence.
