To me, a SF Giants fan, the second sweetest thing last night
after the victory, of course, was seeing the sour look on Laura Bush's face every time they showed a Ranger batter in the on deck circle (she was right behind it)

And, of course, now teams that have allowed a Bush to toss out the first pitch in a WS game are 0-3 (Yankees 2001, Astros 2006, Rangers 2010).

1. Did you notice that Texas lost every home game that Bush attended?

2. Schadenfreude much?
'course, as a frothing Cubs idiot I'm more bummed that the less than stellar utility man Mike Fontenot now has a WS ring and my northsiders still do not.

5. I hope the Cubs and Indians get their turns soon
Both fan bases have been tortured too long. I think the Cubs need to stop trying to buy a series and work on their farm system, though. The Giants tried the buying/ trading for folks route (Bonds, Kent) and it didn't work out so well then.

7. Totally agree
If I recall, the Cubs drafted Lincecum in '06, but he declined (and I can't blame him). Recently they've done a better job husbanding prospects (Starlin Castro, Randy Wells, Tyler Colvin) but they still think a payroll will bring it home (Soriano for 4 more years...yikes!)

Hey, Back to the Future predicted a 2015 Cubs World Series, and a lot of that movie has come to pass. So maybe Zemeckis really does have a baseball almanac from the future.

8. I didn't know that
FWIW, it is 2003 that they tried to draft him

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tim_Lincecum

If you really want to get a fan gnashing their teeth, discuss Tim with a Mariners fan. They could have picked him in the 06 draft ahead of the Giants but didn't. And he was a hometown Seattle guy.

9. Oh 3s and 6s, my eternal enemy
thanks for the kind correction.

But even Lincecum couldn't have helped the Mariners.

Cheers!

If you had to live with Republicons, you'd have a sourpuss, too.
