Wells Fargo Repossesses A Fully Paid Off Car

Keeping up with your car payments, it seems, is not always enough to keep away the repo man. As King 5 TV reports, Adlantis Newton, a Tacoma, Washington, resident, says she faithfully paid her car payments of $299 each month and had a title proving that she owned her 1999 Chrysler LHS. Which didn't stop Wells Fargo from seizing the vehicle anyway. (Hat tip to the Big Picture)

Only after being called by King 5's Jesse Jones did anything happen. Newton tells King 5 News that the President of Wells Fargo -- presumably they're referring to John Stumpf -- called her personally about the matter. The car was soon delivered back to Newton's door.

I think she's owed some compensation, and, as people say, if it were a person, Wells Fago would be in jail now. The fact that it, and none of its employees, are, only goes to show that corporations should never get 'personal' rights in any other field, when they get away scott free in major parts of the law.

9. This is aggravating. If she were a millionaire, I bet Wells Fargo wouldn't be so cavalier.

As it stood, she's just working class. They figured she probably didn't have the legal resources to wage a war, but they weren't betting on the awful light of publicity in their face. How many other people have faced similar problems but had to wage the war alone for far longer to get back wrongfully repossessed cars?

It's just that they don't care enough to look into things deeply enough. They see what's on their computer and just run it through... They really should have better systems in place to clear stuff like this up, and if they do, then they need to educate their employees on how to fix them... You're right though, if it was a millionaire who had this problem, then it would have been solved way quicker. I don't think because of some sort of war against the working class(at least not directly), but rather because the millionaire would have had his lawyer on the phone within minutes. Either way, it's pretty screwed up that they can just "ohhh, oops" and not explain or do anything to pay for their mistake. Losing transportation is a major thing for people who actually have to work and do stuff themselves. :/

I guess that's a minor point as far as the banks are concerned, as they're above the law. Just steal people's property and away you go.

Anyway, "titles" mean nothing to the banksters, especially real estate chain of title (and most DUers probably don't know the half of what's been done in that regard. It's a catastrophe.)

it took me over a year to get the lien off my title after it was paid off from Wells Fargo...with letters and phone calls every single month...it wasn't until I wrote the CEO John Stumpf that I got any results...of course he just handed the letter to his assistant and said take care of it...but I got my title lien free now...
