Doctor Who to Film in America: Time Lord will meet Nixon
Edited on Tue Nov-02-10 11:03 AM by Zephie
Doctor Who is to meet former US president Richard Nixon.

Matt Smith - who plays the titular Time Lord - and co-stars Karen Gillan (Amy Pond) , Arthur Darvill (Rory Williams) and Alex Kingston (River Song) will fly to America for the first time in the show's history to shoot scenes for the opening episode of the next series.

The plot will reportedly see the Doctor respond to an emergency call from the former US leader - who served in office from 1969 to 1974 - after he has trouble with a mystery dark force, which the Doctor was warned about in the show's last series.

The Doctor was previously told: "The universe is cracked. The Pandorica will open. Silence will fall."

Somehow, I don't think the Doctor and Nixon would get along too well.

1. Maybe the Doctor
will stick his sonic screwdriver up where it belongs in Nixon's anatomy.

11. I've liked them all.
They have a way of growing on you. And I'm excited they're coming here to film.

18. I warmed up to him. It takes a little getting used to having a Doctor...

19. Ha! Just wait 'til you get older.
Pretty soon EVERYONE on TV is young enough to be your son.

13. Imagining a modified script....
Republicants: Explain yourself.

The Doctor: I said 'no'.

Republicants: What is the meaning of this negative?

The Doctor: It means 'no'.

Republicants: But your country will be destroyed!

The Doctor: No! 'Cause this is what I'm gonna do - I'm gonna rescue her. I'm gonna save America from the middle of the Republicants abyss, and then I'm gonna save the Earth, and then just to finish off, I'm gonna wipe every last stinking Republicant outta the sky!

Republicants: But you have no weapons! No defences! No plan!

The Doctor: Yeah. And doesn't that scare you to death!

6. Nonsense. Matt Smith is great.
I wonder if The Doctor will cause Watergate, ala Forrest Gump.

7. Can't stand him. I actually prefer the 8th doctor.
Paul McGann. He only did the TV movie on Fox, but he also does audio adventures that are outstanding.

Smith just doesn't cut it for me. I can barely watch him.

10. Even though I touted Eccleston up thread, Tennant will always be "my" Doctor
I just wish I could see what Doctor number 9 would SAY to a man like Nixon. One can only imagine.
