Report from CA - East Bay |
|
The polls here in the East Bay (Fremont) opened at 0630. I arrived at 0830 and was the 22nd voter. The touch screen machines they had last time have been replaced by pen and paper ballots and a reader. The polling center is located at a local elementary school and the whole neighborhood was still crowded with parents dropping off their kids. The folks working there said voter turnout so far was slow but they expected a bigger turn-out later - hopefully when the morning traffic clears.

I herd last night that 55% of people who vote will do so by mail.

I wonder if people are trying to avoid the electronic voting machines, or if it's just a matter of convenience.
