Is anybody else really excited about today or just me?
I know the predictions are dire. I know most Democrats in my backward ass state of Oklahoma will lose. I know all of the media have been trumpeting a republican tsunami for the last 6 months. But I am excited and, dare I say it, hopeful. I think many Americans will be voting today and most support our president and democratic ideals. The republicans have showed themselves to be hateful, spiteful and useless for the last two years while the President has consistently showed compassion, thoughtfulness and cooperation. That isn't lost on the average middle of the road voter. All of the Obama bashing has fired up the base and we are not "sitting this one out." The Tea Party pukes are fired up too but there are a hell of a lot less of them than people who support Democratic platforms as evidenced by the pathetic turnout for their rally's and marches as compared to the turnout for the President and Jon Stewart's Rally. We beat them 3 - 1. President Obama is showing support over 50% in recent polls which is much, much better than republicans, the tea party or Sarah Palin.

Get out and vote. Encourage people you know to vote Democratic and keep a stiff upper lip. We could pull this thing off and wouldn't that fuck up all the naysayers?

3. I'm always excited on election day.
I'm always optimistic about how things will go. Tomorrow, I'll either still be excited or not, depending...

6. I am very excited and hopeful. Having been through this before
I know I'm setting myself up for a big fall tonight but I can't help it. I believe in the fundamental power of good over evil. Stupid maybe, but I just seem to be wired that way. Deliver us from the hands of the republicans.

9. To use the old phrase, I am cautiously optimistic
It's hard to turn off the media noise machine, but the logic behind us doing much better than predicted is there. I've done what I can and now I have to get back to my paying job and clean my house. I'm hoping for good news all over!

10. I voted at 8:33 this morning
I was voter 164 on 1 of two scanning machines. That is a pretty big turnout for a mid-term election. I think the media predicting a landslide victory for republicans may have fired up Democrats and independents who don't like to be told they are losers before a single vote has been cast. I had a friend I used to work with text me this morning and ask how I voted on every single candidate and state question. I haven't seen anyone I know turn away from Obama and, in fact, one right wing young man has become a born again Democrat and has spent a huge amount of time working on the campaign of Dana Orwig, a Democratic candidate for Congress (I think his right wing parents would have preferred he come out as gay than as a Democrat).

12. I am excited today too!
Not sure why, just a gut feeling. Tonight we'll either be vindicated or be more disappointed than those bracing for bad news. :toast: Here's to vindication!

13. I have no money but just made a bet
One of the players in our group this morning - a rich guy taking the day off to vote and golf (go figure) - bet me $20 Republicans would win 55 seats or more in the House. I said they wouldn't even win control. They always underestimate our Get Out The Vote....i'm sure this will be the same this year. Anyways, the cocky SOB said he wouldn't even collect if it was less than 55. It's a push if it's 39-55. I like my chances a lot better than his!

15. And, and, and...
People of color will be voting overwhelmingly for the party that stands up for their rights and against the party that using them as a punchline and fear tactic. I haven't heard any discussion of the minority vote switching to repubs. The vile conduct of tea party republicans during this election from campaign ads to speeches to dirty little racist emails has done nothing to endear any minority voter to them. The loss of non-white voters by the republican party is going to kill their party, if not this year then soon.

16. Had a hard time sleeping last night. Despite my plan to avoid any TV
coverage of the election, I am looking forward to watching the dumbass local TV station's coverage which starts at 8 PM after the PA polls close. I think the outcome will be quite different from the "expert" predictions, and I think we will do much better than anyone expected.

I've also voted today.

I'd consider it a wonderful early Christmas present if the know it all pundits turn out to be wrong.
