Sooooo thrilled to live in Oklahoma, where there is a ballot measure to
prohibit OK courts from using Sharia law. :wtf:

Things are going so great in this state that the brilliant legislators have time to spend on things like this.

:banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

Get.Me.Out.Of.Here.

(oh, and I won't be pissed off like some of the Texans here if you ridicule this state. It's a Texas wanna-be, and it's so fokkin' ridiculous that it deserves every bit of ridicule it gets.)

1. Don't they understand there IS no Sharia law there? Or are they trying to
be preemptive? It is just so fucking bizarre - Somebody said it's like a Mel Brooks movie or something.

How do you think this will go?

2. Seems fitting that the only Democrat in Oklahoma would post on DU.
Is there even one Muslim in all of Oklahoma? One Mosque? Sharia Law?????

6. I would think that Norman OK might have a couple. ;-) Afterall, the University of
Oklahoma is there, and they even hired Anita Hill as a law professor years ago.
Still, yes, I suspect Islam is in the extreme minority in OK.

3. While I have not read that initiative
I would support any initiative that prevents courts from using religious law to interpret state laws on the books.

And that of course also goes for fundamentalist Christians too.

5. A Texas cowboy gets pulled over by a Oklahoma State Trooper for speeding.
The trooper started to lecture the cowboy about his speeding and, in
general, began to throw his weight around to try to make the cowboy
feel uncomfortable.

Finally, the trooper got around to writing out the ticket. As he was doing that, he kept swatting at some flies that were buzzing around his head. The cowboy says: "Y'all havin' some problem with circle flies?"

The trooper stopped writing the ticket and said, "Well yeah, if that's what they're called. But I never heard of circle flies." "Well, sir," the cowboy replies, "Circle flies hang around ranches. They're called circle flies because they're almost always found circling around the back end of a horse."

The trooper says, "Oh," and goes back to writing the ticket. But, a moment later he stops and says, "Are you callin' me a horse's ***?"

"No, sir," the cowboy replies. "I have too much respect for law enforcement to call y'all a horse's ***."

"That's a good thing," the trooper says and goes back to writing the ticket.

After a long pause, the cowboy, in his best Texas drawl says:

"Hard to fool them flies though." Don't Mess with Texas!!!!!
