I did Not vote straight dem
Edited on Tue Nov-02-10 02:29 PM by Angry Dragon
I had to do a write in for mayor

I was 616 on votes into machine ....... that is high for where I live

Also when leaving polling place I notices a vehicle parked with campaign
signs on it so I went back in to complain. It was within the allowed distance.
Still had not been moved a hour later. Will go back in awhile and check.

added: Went back to check and vehicle is still there so got a form to file a complaint with SoS

Also found out each state can decide their own rules for campaigning as long as they
at least adhere to federal law. They can be stricter. Minnesota now has a rule no campaigning
within 100 feet of building, used to be 100 feet from door.

1. I voted all DeM here in NY
except for my Dem State Senator, who voted against Gay Marriage.
I left that blank.

2. When did the law change so noone waas allowed to have campaign
literature at a polling place? I know I should remember but I don't. I rwemember when I voted years ago in Pa. there was a banquet table set up just inside he door that had signs, pamphltes & stickers for all the candidates laid out for you. They were all neatly stacked and free to take if you wanted one. I know I haven't seen that in a long time, but I didn't see a problem with it then, and still don't.

3. I think that should be allowed - as should the supporters outside as long as they aren't
being abusive or intimidating anyone.

4. Some places it seems to be 75 feet
where I voted they told me 100 feet

That is why there is a big fight about wearing campaign clothes into
the polling places

6. At one of the libraries, which is a polling place, there was a sign outside saying no campaign stuff
beyond the sign.

But, inside the library, along with the League of Women Voters lit (which is fine), there were a bunch of Rep. brochures.

:wtf:

16. It's 30 feet here. They were literally waving teabagger signs on the parking lot of the precinct.

10. It varies from state to state.
Several cycles back a friend of mine who lived in Kansas City, MO, and who always handed out literature on election day at a polling place, was quite surprised that I did not do the same thing in Kansas. I think in Kansas you had to be enough farther away from the polling place to make handing out literature impractical, because you'd be beyond where people would be generally pulling in to park.

15. In Ala. it is 30 feet from door of polling place.
One of the candidates, wearing a shirt that said Vote for him, was standing in front of the entrance to the
polling place this am. So I looked up our laws.
Turns out he is the Dem I had to vote against, and turns out he is the incumbent, which means he is a county official, which the law says CANNOT wear that shirt at the polls.
Strangely, voters can enter a polling place here with a sign, or a shirt, or a button, for any candidate.

17. I voted Green Party for Senate
Edited on Tue Nov-02-10 02:52 PM by GoCubsGo
I live in South Carolina. Couldn't bring myself to vote for Alvin Greene, and luckily, Tom Clements is a great candidate. If I didn't have that third choice, I would have held my nose and voted for Greene, which tells you how little I think of Jim DeMented.

I also had to write in for several races, but I wrote in Democrats or Democratic-leaning people.

7. I voted for one Independent
But he's always been a Democrat: he was just challenging the machine candidate for County Assessor and listed himself as an Independent for this race.

Otherwise, all my many choices were Democrats. Though, based on my two hours of research on the 68 judicial retention questions we had, I did vote "no" on retaining four circuit court judges who, although their party is not listed, I'm sure were probably Democrats. (It's Cook County, after all.) Every bar association, from the state and city ones to the Gay and Lesbian, Women's, and Hispanic ones said to vote no on them, so I figured they must be pretty bad or incompetent.

14. Where I vote I an handed a slip of paper to give to the person
that hands out the ballot. It has a number on it in top right corner.
Also the machine I put the ballot in displays the number of ballots it has counted.
