The voting is under way, but President Obama is still working to turn out Democrats
November 2, 2:42 PM

The voting is under way, but President Obama is still working to turn out blacks for Democratic candidates. He phoned in to a series of urban-format radio stations on Tuesday, interrupting music and chat with a pitch for the importance of the midterm vote.

He told listeners to KPWR radio in Los Angeles that even though his name isn’t on the ballot, his agenda is.

The president was being interviewed live Tuesday on radio stations in Los Angeles and Las Vegas—Democratic Sens. Barbara Boxer of California and Harry Reid of Nevada are in close reelection races—and is taping radio interviews for broadcast in Chicago and Jacksonville, Fla.

Obama also taped a round of interviews on Monday for airing on Election Day in Milwaukee, Cincinnati, Philadelphia, Honolulu, and Miami.

CHICAGO —
President Barack Obama is urging Illinoisans to get out to vote, saying getting Democrats re-elected is key to the future success of his administration.

During a call-in interview on WGCI Radio in Chicago, Obama on Tuesday said voting is a small commitment of time that will allow voters to shape the future.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — President Barack Obama urged Nevadans to give Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid a fifth term in a final-hour message to voters on Election Day.

He touted efforts to expand high-speed rail, solar energy, health care access and federal aid for college students in a brief interview with hip hop radio station Hot 97.5 KVEG in Las Vegas Tuesday.

"We have made progress all across the board but it is all at risk if people don't turn out to vote today," he said. "I'm sure the weather is always good in Las Vegas, so you have got no excuses."

"We know that if the people who voted in 2008 turn out to vote in 2010, Harry will win and if they don't turn out, he will lose," Obama said.
