Missouri voting glitch repaired Trick or Treat America
Source: kansasCity.Com

The computer glitch that struck a Missouri database of registered voters for most of the day has been repaired, officials say.

The problem prevented local election workers and the public from accessing the statewide voter registration computer system.

Because of the problem, local election officials had to use more time-consuming manual searches to unravel registration questions.

Laura Egerdal of the Missouri Secretary of State’s Office said a failed piece of computer hardware combined with the large volume of traffic on the website created the problem.

1. This doesn't bode well for Robin Carnahan - the current SOS in MO.
Hopefully she can do better in the Senate than she did with the election stuff.

3. How many people didn’t vote because of long lines?
Why couldn’t they send info to every county before election, makes to much sense. How many people didn’t vote because they needed to go drop of kids or get to work on time because of long lines?

4. That's why you early vote -
keeps you from experiencing any last-minute disenfranchisement.

9. This glitch caused voters to not vote. That always helps the Billionaire Party.

Funny how these things happen, huh?

Amazing what many businesses can do on the web - large numbers of people can access secure information. But when it's for voters who'll vote against the Billionaire Party, we should expect "snafus".

:grr:

5. I am in bright red Jefferson County...and had no trouble voting.
Carnahan is probably losing 80-20 around here and even worse in out-state areas where the percentage of knuckle-dragging "constituents" is even higher...she is going to need MASSIVE turnout all day to even get within single digits state-wide. I hate Blunt with a passion, but sadly he is going to win and win big out here today and there's not much doubt about it.

I have been contemplating a move out of this region for a while and I have to be honest, the state of Missouri is going down the same bat-shit crazy fundamentalist path that Kansas has already blazed. I am not sure I want to raise my kids here and constantly have to fight the misinformation and outright lies and propaganda that infests the area.

10. Interesting you should say "bright red"...
I am in Jefferson County (north, north east) and I think the area is more "purple".It is a big county, and I am fairly close to the St. Louis county part, that could explain the difference in our perceptions.
Maybe you are in a really red part, whereas mine is a little bluer? Most of the county officers are Dems. and we (just barely!) went with Obama in 2008 (I am pretty sure?).
The turn out seemed good in my neck of the woods today.
Blunt is not good for this state, that is for sure.
Maybe we are purple because we are holding our breath!

6. Had issues with this at my MO polling place this morning, along with so many other issues
every poll worker had a netbook to check in voters and print out a sticker for the voter roll book. Listening to the poll workers trying to trouble shoot some problems they were having with the netbooks/software was less than encouraging. I do not care for the switch to electronics at all. The person helping me with a recent address change was using a Palm Pilot to access and change my info, for pete's sake. Hack city.

8. That's because they really don't want people to vote
or votes to be counted correctly. I think it's absolutely insane.
