She's not nearly the political junky I am and thus far she's held strongly onto her independent status. She did vote for President Obama in the last election and Dems across the board.
So today she voted. A couple days ago she said she needed to read up on the candidates in order to make her decision. So today on my way home from work I called to find out if she's making dinner. If not I was going to stop at the drive through. Asked if she was at home she said, "I'm voting right now." Ut-oh, I thought.
As soon as she walks in, "So, who did you vote for."
"I pretty much voted Democrat across the board," she said.
"Pretty much?"
She thought for a moment. "Well, come to think of it I did vote for all Democrats this time"
"Yes! What made you decide?"
"Well, I looked at everyone's adds and the Republicans were just NASTY!"
"Ya think?" I asked and apparently she didn't pick up on the sarcasm.
"Well, yeah this one guy--" she started to say until I interrupted,
"Honey, I was being sarcastic. Of course they're nasty! Why do you think I'm always cursing at the TV?"
"I can't believe that crap actually convinces people to vote for them," she said.
And she really has a point. It's really sad that their nasty, hate filled crap actually gets people to vote for them. Worse still is how their lies resonate so easily with the American people. But at least in this household I get to say WE did our part, regardless of the outcome.
