He repeated it several times because instead of answering his question, she recited Twilight Zone party platitudes. He had asked her if she still planned to investigate specific Democrats for "UnAmerican Activity" as she has been promising!

He also tried to ask her who the specific Democrats are & what have they done that was unAmerican. Same gobbledygook (non)answer.

Bachman's eyes, apparently very light in color & even more so with camera lights on her face, put even more emphasis on Matthews' are-you-in-a-trance quip. Everyone, especially Chris, sitting on the studio panel were laughing at her.
