Meg Whitman spent $150 million.... to lose handily, it appears

Big money doesn't always win.

Jerry Brown was outspent 10 to 1.

Meg spent more than the GDP of many small nations to become a Senator.

...and she failed.

That shows that we can beat the big money if we run smart campaigns like Brown did.

16. She was on the ticket for governor. So if she was running for senator, she was
on the wrong ticket.

5. Meg, you shouldn't have held back
another 75-150 million of your own money would have made the difference (NOT)

9. She alone motivated me to volunteer for a campaign.
I wasn't going to do any volunteering this cycle due to frustration and anger with the national party.

Ole Meg went and made a liar out of me.

10. See? Rich people generally do stupid, unstimulative things with their money
The money would have been better put to use building a school someplace or something.

11. Big Ed said earlier tonight that we'll have to
start donating for 2012 now to have the money to compete with the corporate cash that has always been injected into our election plus the bonus ruling regarding campaign contributions that the USSC ruling handed over.

:banghead: Paying to get screwed.

12. It wasn't about a smart Brown campaign, IMHO
People disliked Whitman. Disliked her more and more as her ads ran and ran -- she actually hurt herself with all her spending. Brown lay low until after Labor Day to save money, and ran some good ads thereafter, but I don't think his campaign really had much to do with the result. At the end of the day, he could present himself as a known quantity who was not Meg Whitman.

Watching Whitman flush all that money away for bupkis is tonight's consolation for Californians.

18. In the interest of accuracy, the Republic of Kiribati is the only country
with a GDP of less than 140 million dollars, according the the IMF.

I offer this just information, not to be a contrarian.
