That said, we should avoid reading too much into a single culprit for what happened tonight. This is a mass event on a scale and of a diversity that defies simplistic shilling for any specific pet cause. Insensible anger over the economy and a typical first mid-term drawback are two more or less neutral causes of a shift away from Democrats. The equality of money with speech is another potential culprit. That it is some combination of many culprits seems obvious, and now is probably not the time to argue for one over all others.

1. Agreed, but the Citizens Ubited decision is, IMHO, the biggest winner in this election. |

I've never, ever seen so many slick ads, so often, from so many TAX-EXEMPT 501(c)3 organizations.
And they haven't had time to REALLY fear up yet.

4. Obama had some effect certainly |
|
That he was the only influence that mattered I seriously doubt. What exactly his influence was is extremely debatable, and to some extent, unknowable.

9. I would like to know whether the loss of 23 Blue Dogs |
|
was a result of dems and independents with a conscience, abandoning the 'lesser evil' philosophy at last and not holding their noses and working to help elect people who never represented their interests to begin with. That is going to be a very hard tactic to sell from now on. It certainly didn't work to get anything remotely progressive accomplished. Glad they're gone, they are no loss since the voted like Republicans anyhow.
