History will judge the last two years much better than this current election.

This will be a blip on the radar, in the scheme of things. We still hold the senate and the house will be easily regained in 2012 in a Presidential election environment.

1. We would have been better off passing single payer than what we got.
Then losing would have been worth it.

4. Got to remember that the New Deal and FDR and the Democrats didn't
have smooth sailing in the 30's. A lot of progressive legislation that was passed was subsequently repealed or declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court (FDR's showdown with the Supreme Court is a story in itself). It was the same bullshit about us being "communists" and "traitors" and "unamerican" and blah blah blah, but they were persistent and it paid.

I, too, would have liked to national health passed. My greatest concern is that Obama, while a great speaker and a good leader, is not FDR. We need someone with fire in the belly and with willingness to shoot back.
