...and if that initiative doesn't pass, then it will return until it does. I cannot believe that Prop 19 is failing, but even if it is, I'm even less prepared to accept that California will not eventually lead the nation out of it's drug war nightmares. Marijuana is the acknowledged backbone of the economies of many Californian counties. Every car dealer, every restaurant, every church collection plate up here on the North Coast is ultimately dependent upon marijuana. It is the main economic engine here. It is a way of life. It is one of the reasons I love living here so much.

We will prevail in time. In the meantime, we smoke our herb, and wonder why so many people are so afraid of such a simple and beneficial thing. Babylon wins one this time, perhaps, but we have lost nothing.
