31. Scott McAdams would say "When Lisa says 'no,' she's just like Joe."
It remains to be seen whether she answers at all to the people who saved her seat this time. She blatantly pandered to the Democrats, telling us that she had worked hard for certain provisions in this or that bill -- but ultimately she voted against all of them. Then she would tell the Republicans that she will caucus with the R's, and that they needn't fear that she will support Obama's agenda. I've never seen so much double-talk in my life. Sadly, it was enough to fool a lot of people. I just hope she shows some gratitude to the Democrats and independents who helped save her job.

Two of my favorites, Democrats Linda Sanchez and Loretta Sanchez, carved out big victories in California. If you look at the California results, the blue columns look pretty good. We'll keep a lamp lit during the Dark Age of Boner.

27. No good victories in Alaska, but at least it appears Joe Miller lost.
Edited on Wed Nov-03-10 02:39 AM by Blue_In_AK
You have to take some comfort where you can. :)

The Republicans took back the majority in our state legislature, but the really hard-fighting Democrats are still in there, so I'm not too worried. Scott McAdams has gained a tremendous amount of stature and I predict will go far in Alaska's politics if he keeps at it. He got applause from everyone when he came into Election Central. The guy's really got some class, and people like him. Joe Miller is obviously unbalanced, and Lisa played the fear card well with the centrist Dems and independents. It was a good tactic, because Joe Miller IS scary.

I do feel good having voted for Scott, though, and I know he could have won if Lisa hadn't been in the race.

29. That one makes me very happy,
and I'm glad to see Barbara Boxer held on, too. We need those strong progressive voices speaking for the left, especially now that some baggers have gotten themselves elected. It's perilous times we're living in.

30. Preemptive jailing of RNC protesters Sheriff defeated in MN
Bostrom upsets Fletcher for Ramsey County sheriff
St. Paul police commander said his campaign was about restoring trust
http://www.twincities.com/ci_16507024

The bad news is...

Both men played big roles when St. Paul hosted the Republican National Convention in 2008. Bostrom was in charge of the police department's security planning for the RNC. Fletcher's office conducted a yearlong investigation before the RNC and raided homes and a gathering place in the days before the event.

But Fletcher has been corrupt and needed to go for quite some time.

38. Dennis is gone after this term...
His district will be drawn out of exsistance. They will gun for him since the whole redistricting process in Ohio will be managed by Republicans with little democratic input at all...

I suspect they will make Cleveland one big district and pull in as many suburban African Americans into that district as possible.

This is what they did in 1992.

This is what they will do agaon.

They will create a suburban ring around Cleveland that will become a GOP stronghold.
