Half of Americans have to be the stupidest people in
the world. We were beaten down by a decade of Republican politics, to the point of a Great Depression and the draining away of everything that was good about this country and yet enough voters showed up to vote into office the very same people who would destroy this nation even more. I really can't take the stupidity any more.

The next two years are going to be nothing but gridlock. Nothing will get done when we are in a very real crisis, an economy struggling to recover and two wars that seem endless. Obama is not going to be able to do shit about anything without a huge struggle, bigger than he already has had to cope with. In the meantime more people will die or end up in desperate circumstances because stupid people voted before they bothered to check facts and then think about them.

Bah! I'm going to bed.

1. emotions trump logic.
It is a sad but accurate statement. Especially since people are not taught how to reason. It will be an interesting 2 years. Good luck to us all.

3. What you really should be angry about
Is a party who was given a historic mandate for change and two years later they're losing to a gang of nutbags, racists and criminals.

In a perfect world, there would be a better class of people in the Political Class, but right now, that is not the world we have.

12. 60 senate seats is NOT...NOT a mandate from historic facts....facts. FDR had 83, LBJ had 69....
...if Obama had either number you could argue that he had a mandate....FACTUALLY.

31. Oh please. Crap like this is why the Democrats got their asses kicked.
When will you understand -- NO ONE IS BUYING IT. The excuses piled on excuses for doing NOTHING did not work. At all.

Now watch. The Repugs, with a majority in the House and a bare minority in the Senate, are going to fucking steamroll Obama's agenda. They aren't going to sit around pointing 80 years into the past and whining about their numbers. They're just going to fucking steamroll us.

15. Sadly, the mandate was pissed away.
Worse, every day I think more and more that I'm living in some bizarre, parallel Weimar Republic.

Wel, at least in the wierd, bizarre pararell Weimar Republic of today, US still have a idea of democracy, and they still have a democratic elected president. But how long the president are elected that way is another case maybe. In the Weimar republic, Hitler was never given the keys to the Presidency, he just took it after Hindenburg died, but got sure that no body would even try to say no to him...

I have tried to follow the US election, even tho it destroyed mutch of my night, and blown all posibility of a decent night with sleep.. And I have to say, so many woted against their own interest, that it is mindblowing to say at at least.. Can not for the good of my life understand US anymore.. Many of you are really a bizzare population, who again, and again, and again wote against everything that you _know_ is the best for you.... To be on the outside, loking in, its like looking at a madhouse, where the people are doing all the wrong thing, for the wrong reason.. Or have a nightmare, a nightmare you can not weake up from, but have to look at for as long as you sleep... And then you wake up, only to se that you indeed are in a bizzare world of today..

The next two years would be indeed interesting, hopefully the right would not do as mutch harm as I fear, even tho I fear that the right wil do a lot of damage to the US.. The right have allready did a lot of harm, and allmoust driving the car into the ditsh, but it is still time to hinder the whole car to drive into the didsh, and maybe recover the car.... Obama have alleready did a deal of it all, but I am afraid that the next couple of years could be interesting to se, if Obama really is managing to push the car out of the biggest troubles

And as some also have pointed out here, the media is more or less owned by the right, like in Weimar republic, where the biggest news coporations also was owned by the same group, who finanzied, and helped Hitler into power.. And was not afraid of using brutal metodes to do so.. The Weimar Republic was destroyed from within, it was not enemy who had tanks and an army of soldiers who ruin the Weimar Republic... From within the repblic ruined itself, and in its stead, the extreme Nazi regime was in place.. I hope, I really hope that the current US republic, is not like the old Weimar Republic, fallen to her own enemies in the end. But your Republic have some illness today, who are not been adressed correctly, and as long as it is not correctly adressed, the illness wil fester, and be greater, day for day, weeks for week, years for years.. To the illness is indeed making the patient to ill to maybe survive the illness.. And it might fall, as the Weimar Republic did it in 1933.. (Even tho the Weimar Repulic, with all its guarantees survived the 12 year of nazi rule, and was not given a subsistude before the BDR constitution of 1949, who with some provissions was finaly made the constitiotions also for the east german states in 1991-92 when BDR and DDR merget to just Germany..

28. We are under corporate control.
You get better news and facts about what is going on here than most people here do. It is very difficult for people to afford survival and still manage to educate themselves. The corporations like it that way, because they can continue to suck away our money and lives while we just try to work harder for more.

It's a parasitic relationship, and the host is in serious condition.

8. I've said it for years - Americans have become TOO STUPID to live with.
Edited on Wed Nov-03-10 02:23 AM by Emillereid
When my husband retires, we're eyeing either moving back to Canada (he's dual) or finding a home in Europe.

We were recently in Germany and all the people we met and talked to seemed so sane and civil and educated -- even in broken English. They would talk about political matters in such rational terms. For instance, they'd say things like, in Germany we're having a conversation about some 'matter.' I laughed -- and told them here in America we're having a shouting match about some 'matter' -- that's when we aren't shooting or stomping on someone's face!

17. It is amazing how many citizens can be bamboozled into voting against their own interests
It is staggering the number of intellectually weak people who are deceived by well polished conservative orators convincing them to vote for right wing causes. They vote Republican when it obvious that progressive ideals support them 100% better.

32. It is quite apparent
that their idea of what is in their own best interest is ALOT different than what YOU think is in their best interest.
To be quite honest, progressives have no idea what is in other peoples best interests and the sooner they realize that and stop making excuses, the sooner we can take back what we lost last night.

26. Lots of reasons why half of our country is in the dark and looking to thier team for
help.

How our side continues to ignore/overlook the public perception of what they are doing and how is a large part of why people vote R, don't vote, and might even think a single party 'in power' is bad.

I can only rationalize this crap as most people not being aware of history, their party's goals/motives, their candidates positions/history and so on oh and of course the hatred some of them have flat out for other people be based on plenty of perceived differences that actually matter less than the things they have in common.

It wasn't a level playing field.
We were overwhelmed by the Koch brothers, the Chamber of Commerce, secret foreign donations, Fux News, and, ultimately, the right-wing members of the Supreme Court.

At least Obama has the next 2 years to replace any sitting justices who die or retire.

29. They are not stupid
But they are not pro active in their true Democracy. They want all the comforts and protections of the United States but don't want to advocate for them. That is what I feel. And I did say "I". Maybe now before they come in and steal everything they have left some Americans will takes their losses and pull what little money they have left out of the American system of Corporate theft. Yes there are some basic things we need and can't control the purchase, but on things we can we should.Like credit cards. Really no need. You can use a prepaid Debit. You load it up for a couple of bucks with the amount you need to purchase. When swiped shows up credit. No hidden fees, late fees, penalties. Basically no theft, you only put on the card what you need, and once you make your purchase you have used the money on it.

I would liquidate 401k and take the loss and move to savings account at credit union. Would not deal with a big bank. Too many fake products and fees. I would not let them keep my money to take it. Let them steal each other's money. Then you will see the difference.
