It might get some of the female vote back, but I think the problem is more fundamental: the Democratic Party has absolutely no platform other than TRYING to appear less bought-out by corporations than the Republican Party (not true and not working) and by running on a "we're not fascist like you but we're willing to accept your fascist ideas as acceptable discourse" tepidness.

Obama re-ups Patriot Act, surges in Afghanistan, we're still in Iraq despite all the pretty euphemisms, he's still using contractors, there's still gitmo and blacksites, there's no justice for LGBT people, he was hesitant on the oil spill, he continues with mountain removal, etc. etc.

The Democratic Party can't go on being the Republican Party of the 1980s. Stand for something and the people will come back. They wanted change. Unfortunately many Americans are uneducated so they thought maybe the new radical version of the Republican party would be "change."
