Obama is not Clinton.
When the House impeachment/smear machine comes after him, he will fight fire with fire. He's smart, and now has nothing to loose by fighting back.

32. Spelling is an integral part of grammar, which defines proper word usage.
Edited on Wed Nov-03-10 10:39 AM by JTFrog
Some rules of grammar pertain specifically to spelling, such as plurals and possessives. Lose, Loose and Loss are pretty much covered under Grammar 101.

But next time I'll use this one just for you.

14. Exactly, thank you! Obama was never really a leader, a great orator,
but not great on follow-through, the quintessential professor before a lecture hall of eager grad students, not the trial lawyer, who must actually face down opposing counsel.

That whole down home preacher shtick never seemed convincing to me; having grown up listening to the genuine article, I always found Obama's impersonation of it to be very affected.

39. President Clinton is still my favorite President
President Obama does not GET it. The issue is jobs and unemployment. He needs to create employment opportunities and react to the foreclosure crisis.

I saw President Clinton speak in Detroit last weekend that these are two issues he pounded on in the speech. Even-though his candidate he supported Lansing Mayor Virg Bernero (D) lost, soon many Michiganders will quickly realize it BIG HUGE mistake, electing "nerd" Governor-to-Be Rick Snyder (R). President Clinton help manage to have Bernero gain about 42 percent of the vote within the state.

President Obama would be WISE to bring Bill Clinton on as an advisor for the next two years because if not, I believe he will be a One-Termed President, at the rate he is going.

20. I hope Obama will finally begin to let go the left-overs from the
Bush cabinet, and replace them, as well as other right-leaning advisers, with
real Democratic ones. Even he must know by now that bi-partisanship with
the right-wingers is an impossibility. They will not change from the
one and only item on their agenda - to destroy him and the Democratic Party
totally and completely.

21. Let 'Em Investigate Til They Drop...
There's a big difference between now and then...it's called the economy. That's what yesterday's election was all about. People are struggling...so much so many willingly voted for corporate toadies with talking points. They see nearly 10% unemployment and want something done. The GOTB will have to be a part of that solution...playing investigation games ain't gonna cut it.

Let it be clear...last night was not a "rushpublican mandate" of any sort...it was the frustration of an electorate that wants an economy like the one of the Clinton inquisition days. We're far from there and those who waste taxpayer money will be on the recieving end in 2012. That doesn't mean I don't expect Issa to subpoena anything that moves in the beltway, but let the GOTB play those games at their own peril.

22. True
It is about the economy. People are worried and fearful.

This should have been foreseen. The state of the economy was first and foremost. Congress and the WH should have taken heed.

They did not. This is the result.

23. I'm gonna flat out say it: Clinton screwed our party.
NAFTA.

GATT/WTO.

DOMA.

DADT.

Telecommunications Act of 1996.

Not keeping his pants up when he KNEW the republicans were looking for any kind of dirt they could find on him.

Giving up on Health Care reform.

Granting China most favored nation status.

Where he got things right (Breyer/Ginsburg) on the SCOTUS, his domestic policy was too centrist.

In short, Clinton made things much easier for the Corporatists to increase their power and the effects are still felt today.

Because Obama making it to the WH was nothing short of an extreme feat of political skills, IMO.

36. Yes, getting elected was a feat.
Since then, we have not seen much in the way of political skills, though.

Letting his enemies define him was Obama's biggest mistake here, and that's something Clinton's operation was very careful not to do. Do you remember his '92 campaign's rule that every attack would be answered--and answered hard--during the same news cycle? That was brilliant. Acting above it all while your enemies smear you (and then apologizing the day before the election for calling enemies enemies)? Not so much.

Still, though, with Clinton we got a shitty domestic agenda that paved the way for so many of our current problems.

It would be nice if we could get a reasonably progressive candidate with some sense of strategy.

being elected, except for some occasional moments--he's been cautious and measured, and is generally not in fighting mode, which is his best side. That said, he's got a much bigger shitpile to wade through than Clinton ever had, and the political climate is nastier, the media is more partisan and less factual, and let's face it, no one doubted that Clinton was actually an American born in America. (edited for clarity)

47. This sums it up for me regarding Clinton:
Not keeping his pants up when he KNEW the republicans were looking for any kind of dirt they could find on him.

This had a domino effect on both parties. Yes, it was a private matter, but it made Al Gore act stupid in 2000 when he picked Lieberman to be his running mate and ran away from the so-called "peace and prosperity" Clinton kept bragging about. As for the GOP, well, we all know what happened next ("I am returning honor and dignity to the Oval Office").

48. Clinton HELPED THE ECONOMY!!!
The biggest period of economic growth in decades. Everyone and their Momma had a FREAKING JOB! The middle class had more gains financial during President Clinton administration than in the past 10 years under both George Bush and President Obama. The Federal Deficit was a SURPLUS...a HUGE ONE, by the way.

And my favorite legislation of President Clinton and the late Great Senator Teddy Kennedy (RIP)-SCHIP! This program alone save many lowermiddle class families huge medical costs (including myself) by providing health insurance coverage for children across our great country.

President Clinton is within the history books! President Obama would be WISE to LISTEN to him, right now on how to win this country back prior to the 2012 elections. He better get on the job....of actually creating EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES and responding to the FORECLOSURE CRISIS or he will be a one-termed President.

This is a fact people. The election last night, proved it, sadly.

46. He certainly needs a dose of the Clinton (both of em) attitude.
Bubba's domestic policies may have sucked, but he did not hesitate to raise taxes on those who could afford it and get family-friendly legislation (Family Leave) passed as well. Bubba also never let any Republican talk trash about him and would respond to personal attacks swiftly and forcefully.

Bubba also had an air of empathy which many people related too. That's more in the style column, though. But it seems to me like there are many who feel like the current President doesn't really feel how much they are suffering.

Even Hillary fought tooth and nail for the nomination and only gave up after there was less than no chance of her walking away with the nomination. That's the fight, zeal, and passion the President needs to exhibit now.
