How Did Your State Fare On State-Level Races? Maine Is Now A Red State...

For us here in Maine, it's been a nightmare. Our previously Dem. State House AND State Senate are now Republican.

Though the Governor's race has still not been officially called, we know for a fact that it won't be a Dem. and probably won't be our only other hope, Independent Eliot Cutler. Our previous Governor was a Dem. (termed out)

With only about 13% of precincts left to report (almost all of them rural and conservative)this is what we've got:

Teabagger R... Paul LePage- 38%
Independent... Eliot Cutler- 37%
Democrat ... Libby Mitchell- 19%

So it appears that our next Governor will be an INSANE teabagger w/neither the State House of State Senate to stop him. He supports Creationism being taught in our schools, is anti choice, anti-gay rights... I could go on and on.

The only solace I can take at this point is the fact that our 2 Dem US House Reps. Chellie Pingree and Mike Michaud (a bluedog) held on.

We are now a Red state. I hope the rest of you have better news to report.

It was expected that they'd take the governorship with Freudenthal retiring after 2 successful terms. I really thought that Massie had a good chance to win Superintendent of Public Instruction, but Laramie and Jackson weren't enough to carry him over the Repub asshats here. I think we lost seats in both state houses too. I'm moving to Denver in the spring. Looking forward to not having no hope ever politically here in Wyoming.

Governor- Red (most likely) the 13% left to report are mostly rural and conservative.
State Senate- Red
State House- Red

*Constitution officers... *Maine is one of only a handful of states whose Legislature elects Constitutional Officers. So, our Dem. AG, Dem. Secretary of State, and Dem. State Treasurer are most likely going to be R's because the now R State House and State Senate will vote them out

Both US Senators- Red

The only D's left in high office are US Reps. Chellie Pingree and Mike Michaud (a bluedog).

In Wisconsin we lost everything, state assembly, state senate, governor, and Feingold........all gone in a single election. We just approved high speed rail from Milwaukee to Madison which fortunately was funded right before the election. I suppose the damn repubs will try to stop it now.
I worked for the Barret campaign, we had so many people signed up to vote and they just didn't show up. There were 6 busses that took people to several voting places during the day, didn't help. :( I need some anti depressants.

The Republican candidate for Governor, Bob Ehrlich, lost by the largest margin ever for a Gubernatorial candidate. Senator Mikulski won 62% to 36%, my representative, Chris Van Hollin, won 73% to 25%, my County Council (Montgomery) is still all Democrats, our County Executive, Ike Leggett, won 65% to 35%. My County has about one million residents (making it larger than seven states) and is among to best educated and wealthiest (fairly well distributed wealth BTW) in the US, and not a Republican to be seen, not even Register of Wills or Clerk of Court.
