I see one huge dark spot in all the glory the Republicans are basking in today...
namely, their party identity. Who's in charge? Let the very public struggle of the battle for the soul of the GOP (corporates vs. tea-party) commence. This ain't gonna be pretty folks, and there sure as hell won't be much governing going on.

Now the fun begins, no?

1. It is no longer the GOP - it is "the teabaggers" (lower case intended).
The only mistake one can make is referring to the teabaggers as a "party". They are not. They are just the controlling influence on a party that is out of touch with reality.

6. But I betcha that some of the non-"tebaggin'" GOP'ers........
will not go quietly into that good night. There's a fight 'a comin. A very ugly, public fight.

22. Sorry. No offense meant to water-on-the-brain dogs. That's a major puppy mill problem.
They're actually pretty sweet things - just not real bright and without bladder control. It wasn't fair to the dogs. The teabaggers aren't sweet (not sure about the bladder control and don't want to know).

24. heard a RW talking head outraged by the term "teabaggers"
Saying that it was disgusting that Bill Maher and others used that perverted term to describe the noble Tea Party...

Except, if memory serves, they were calling THEMSELVES "teabaggers" for weeks (months?) until one of them finally watched the movie "Pecker" and figured out what the hell was going on.

2. It's a bit like the Cultural Revolution in China...
With the ideologically insane taking over the Republican party.

3. Just like Obama ignored his base the GOP will distance themselves from the TP
they are tools. With a little luck the anger level in the streets will rise dramatically, unless the GOP listens to them in a way the democrats did not listed to their base. Anyone who didnt see this coming was not thinking.

Massive Fail

4. I agree, but it isn't going to be fun for the Democrats either. Earlier this year spokespeople from
the administration marginalized the progressives. They better bring them back into the fold, or there will be even more problems

9. That's right...
but I don't think that corporate bent will sit well with the Tea Partee. There will be SOME kind of schism.

18. Maybe I'm naive, but I think they will........
they've had since 2006 to blame the Dems for all their woes, now they have ZERO excuses.

I live with these people too (hello? West Virginia), and some of their loyalties only go as far as their pocketbooks. Once they see the GOP vacillating on their platforms and promises, they'll become disillusioned and find another voice to fill the void. The GOP is not their answer, it just served a purpose at this time.

23. For weeks, I've marveled at how these people can talk about "fiscal
responsibility" (reducing the deficit) and "extending the tax cuts" (for the wealthiest of the wealthy) in the same breath, again and again, with no glimmer of internal dissonance.

How do they DO that???

...the country or their own party. Two years of stirring mud into the batter and then maybe we can win back our country.

8. The party is corporate backed. No difference.

By February, there will only be Republicans. Once Boner and McConnell show the 'tea party candidates' the good life of money, cognac, cigars, money power and money. I give it till February, and Fox will be pushing conservatives, not tea party candidates.

The 'hidden donors' shall reveal themselves to the newly elected - and will demand they 'cooperate for America', or they'll back another loon.

Beck will lead, see where he goes.

10. Then the Tea Party leadership loses THEIR identity........
I can't see that sitting well with the rank-and-file tea-partiers. They want an ideologue that fits their viewpoint, a Wall Street fat-cat ain't it.

16. Here's a Novel Idea
How about the Democratic Leadership defines them. Seriously. Why let them fight it out. Call them Teapublicans and be done.

We allowed the Republicans to define who we are in the eyes of the public for too long. We've been called socialists like that's a bad thing, fascists, our President has been portrayed as everything from Hitler, to the Joker, to an African Witch doctor and so on and so forth.

They are Teapublican Plutocrats. That's how they won the 'House' - and that's who they are now. No backing down from that definition and it needs to be said over, and over, and over, and over, and over, and over -

If it becomes known/associated with elitisim - They won't be able to use an "Populist" Approach in the 2010 election.
