Don't hold your breath waiting for the economy to recover...
...in hopes that will put the Democrats back in charge. It won't.

The loss of jobs is not a temporary matter. The jobs have been out-sourced and off-shored. There are no replacements. People that have lost their jobs are fearful for the future and those that still have their jobs are scared about the future.

This is the issue the Democrats need to address to get the attention of the American people. They are not that concerned about other issues at the moment. Until the Democrats can communicate a strategy to create jobs and to stop the jobs from going off shore, the Republicans will use it to their political advantage.

Time for them to get on the stick.

12. That's been the plan all along, isn't it?
:argh:

I've read some posts around here saying the Repugs are in a no-win situation, because now they're forced to admit what they're going to cut from the budget.

Bahh, the 'pugs aren't going to talk about it, now that the election's over! They'll try cutting some "unnecessary" social programs, sure, and make a big noise about it, but they won't tell anyone about the big stuff...regardless as to whether they actually cut or not.

No, the focus will be on the stagnant economy, and of course the Repukes won't pass any meaningful legislation to help everyday citizens find jobs. So, the economy for the average Joe will stagnate. Then in 2012, the Pukes will say, "See, Obama didn't help you...at least we tried, but he vetoed every jobs bill we sent him." :eyes: (Never mind that every jobs bill will be laced with "poison pills" and stuff like giant giveaways to corporations and the rich.) I can just imagine the rants we'll be hearing 24/7 from Limbaugh, Beck, Hanity, etc., riling up the "common working man" against Obama and the Democrats.

With the inevitable help of the M$M, they'll make Obama look like a failure, and they'll say that by God, the GOP has a plan to turn around the economy...put Social Security money into the stock market, subsidize corporations, and give everybody a tax break! Woo-hoo!
:bounce: (Never mind that the bottom 99% will get a handful of dollars, while the top gets millions.)

And the general public will take a break from Fox News or American Idol just long enough to cast their votes for Republicans. After all, Obama was a major fuck-up, and hey, things weren't so bad under Bush.

9. Infrastructure legislation would/could do a bit in that direction,
and its not very likely to happen now, imo, so we'll have to watch the implosion, now in process, and 2 years hence, maybe take some action.

Economic recovery a long way off, imo.

10. Rick Scott in Florida has promised to create 700,000 jobs.
I bet he'll start a program called Gulf clean-up, and cut costs by not buying any useful equipment.

15. WTF do you need equipment for?
I mean, how cost-inefficient! Just a few people can clean it up with their bare hands!

Besides, the oil has all magically disappeared, so where's the need for the program, anyway?

19. You know, if you really want to bring down that Repub, it wouldn't be hard.
It just takes motivation to watch him closely, and the courage to post the corrupt things he does.

Tick tock, tick tock. He is Jim Greer on steroids.

14. the republicans' idea of a "jobs program" is a tax cut for the rich.
which, of course, they will propose, in several variations, knowing that most of them won't pass the senate or will get vetoed.
the only one that has a chance is the tax cut that's already on the table, the repeal of the bush tax hike at the end of this year. hopefully, democrats can pass this BEFORE the new congress comes in (WITHOUT wasting money on the super-rich) though i won't hold my breath.

17. The vetoing of their bills is part of their plan
Edited on Wed Nov-03-10 10:46 AM by Wednesdays
See my post #12, above. They'll blame Obama for "killing potential jobs." The economy will stagnate, and Obama will be painted as an obstructionist. Sets the Repukes up pretty nicely for 2012, don't you think?
:banghead:

ETA: As for the lame ducks repealing the Bush tax cuts...well, they can do that, but in a few weeks the new Repug-controlled congress will vote to reinstate it. Obama could veto, but again, it adds fuel to the "Obama obstructing jobs" meme I've been talking about.

18. America voted for a Third World America. They apparently
like the vision of Gated Communities or Enclaves for the
rich and powerful, who will have to provide body guards for
their kids who are targets of kidnapping for ransom.
Whie the remainder are working poor to penniless.
Masses of Poverty and no middle class.

Yes, they prefer a tiered society.

Take the Results(Product) of Conservative Economic Fundamentalism
to its logical extension and this is what you see.
Third World Nation or Banana Republic.
