We Survived 8 Years Of Bush And A Gov't Under TOTAL GOP Control
For parts of the 8 years. This shit is a cakewalk compared to that. We still got a decent margin in the Senate and Obama in the WH.

Let the House be the "Tempest in a Teapot" so the whole country can get a good, solid, unfettered look at the crazy. Yeah, they will be a loud, obnoxious pain in the ass that will immediately start investigating the Obama administration and they will completely ignore actually DOING anything worthwhile. They will be like Newt Gingrich's bunch on steroids and acid. They will fuck things up and gummy the works and the country will be worse off for it in a lot of ways. In the end, how did that work out for Gingrich's bunch? And Repubs were actually more popular back then to begin with.

But we survived 8 years of Bush and the GOP, we will survive this.

1. One major factor, Beet...Citizens United. That poured cement on the fascist path dug out during Bush
and Cheney's years spent collapsing the economy on the backs of the working class.

2. When bush was elected a friend told me, "We survived Reagan."
Yea, we did. But bush was even worse. This latest load of shit republicans is worse yet. We really need to do more than survive. We need a vibrant country. We now have a corporate run country.

3. Survived? If you mean that we weren't vaporized in a nuclear cloud, okay.
I wouldn't consider it "surviving". Cheney/shrub Co, Inc. tried to destroy the country! They came damn close.

12. we barely survived Little Boots
now that more deregulatory greedheads have been elected, maybe they can just finish us off. We know Little boot's was shoveling treasury money to his corporate friends as fast as he could. Now, with the privatizing, anti-SSA, anti-labor nuts in, they can just finish the job.

Under *, with his "give more tax breaks for the already wealthy", yeah, how's those jobs going? All the wealthy did was take that money overseas. This country is turning into a corportocracy and the people listen to those who promote their masters' interests. They create wedge issues, like abortion-immigration, to the plebes. You wait and see, they'll be railing how it's the poor peoples fault, it's the immigrants fault that there are no jobs. It won't be, mega corporations that we give healthy tax breaks to want slave wages so they're going overseas. It won't be, we gave big tax breaks to the wealthy so they could take that money overseas or that the wealthy are not americans, don't care about this country, unless they got a good slave class. Nope, it will be an attack on the weakest in this country,, and with the help of a complicit media, the proles will buy into it.

4. Sure we'll survive . . . unless . . .
Some serious existential challenge comes along (like financial collapse, perhaps) that requires mature collective leadership to agree and implement a range of complicated and probably unpopular measures that can't be described in a sound bite.

And then we're screwed.

That's why voting is so serious. Because you don't want these fools in office when crises erupt. You don't want a Bush on 9/11. You don't want a Hoover when the stock market tanks. And you don't want Boehner as Speaker when GFC Mark II rolls around.

Now, if disaster *doesn't* strike, then I agree with you. The 'Licans are going to cover themselves with shit and they'll get their assess handed to them in 2012.

5. interesting analysis
The Democrats are likely the ones who have to worry about surviving. The general public seems to believe the President controls everything. While Bush and Obama have both made efforts to increase their influence on government, they are still limited in what they can do. Obama is more powerful as a leader of the Democratic Party than he is as President when it comes to actual legislation. If the economy doesn't improve by 2012, Obama will likely lose the election.

It would be in his best interests to cooperate and convince the moderates that he will govern more towards the center to help this country. With the GOP control of the House, he will not accomplish much with his current policies. He needs to take a hit, and be willing to actually compromise (instead of the take it or leave it stance that was taken with the healthcare bill). If he can do this, he has a good shot at re-election. If not, look for Rubio, Daniels, or someone from "outside DC" to win easily.

6. Anyone Who Thinks Obama Wasn't Willing To Compromise Is An Idiot
You've got to be fucking kidding me.

I suppose the next thing you're going to tell me that the best way to help the economy is tax cuts for the richest 1%?

How pathetically transparent you are.

Way to take things way out of proportion. You seem to be focused on pushing your own ideology on the country instead of actually helping the nation. Not everyone in America is a democrat, we have to recognize this. Two years of doing nothing will not help this country. Both Dems and Reps have to compromise something to help the country.

10. Again, Anyone Who Thinks Obama Wasn't Willing To Compromise Is A Fucking Idiot
Edited on Wed Nov-03-10 10:25 AM by Beetwasher
And anyone who thinks the Republicans are going to work with Obama on ANYTHING has to be the biggest moron on the planet. All they will do is investigate and issue subpoena's and try to block anything and everything that might help this country. They've said as much.

The Republicans stand in the way of progress. They voted in a block against every single initiative to help the economy because it didn't have tax cuts for the wealthiest 1%. What fucking planet have you been living on for the past two years? Compromising with the GOP means doing EVERYTHING they want or NOTHING at all.

That's the facts and if anyone thinks they are going to compromise NOW after they've very clearly said they won't and that the ONLY thing they are interested in stopping Obama, then that person needs a two by four of reality smacked in their skull because they are living in fucking fantasy land.

11. What do you think Republicans should compromise?
They've already sold their souls to the teabaggers. What more do you think they'll be willing to give up?

13. We'll make it
as uncomfortable as it's gonna be; we made it through 12 years of Reagan and Bush, Sr.

Let the repubs prove their mantra: Government is evil and will do nothing for you--elect us and we'll prove it.
