Now, have we learned our lesson, class?
When we "won" the house and senate, WE DIDN'T REALLY WIN! It was a bunch of conservative Democrats who won. Why is it that when they win, they have people who are conservative, but when we win we don't have liberals? It's because we were trying to pull bullshit on people. Instead of actually changing their minds and winning that way, we had a bunch of knock-off republicans.

From now on we win by talking to people, and genuinely converting them.

4. Maybe because the country is only about 20% liberal?

5. You mean the country where single-payer polls in the mid 60s?
This is a liberal, populist county at heart. We just have no politicians who are truly liberal and populist.

7. Doesn't matter much if the liberals can't get elected.

8. So which is it? The country is too right wing, or we just can't get liberals elected?
You seem awfully invested in convincing us to compromise with the far right.

10. There isn't a connection between where the country is politically and who they elect? I didn't
say a thing about compromising with anybody. The reason the Senate and House weren't teeming with liberals after 2008 was because they don't get elected in large numbers because only 20% or so of the population claims to be liberal.

11. Were you near a TV yesterday?
If you missed it, we just had an election where the country elected a bunch of people who have absolutely nothing to do with what the general population believes.

14. Probably because
while saying you support single-payer may make you feel good, it doesn't mean you actually support it enough to be willing to pay for it.

And, while fantasy is fun, the reason we have no politicians who are truly liberal and populist is because The People have not voted them in yet.

15. Anyone who talks about being "willing to pay" for Single Payer betrays their ignorance
Single Payer would be LESS COSTLY than what people are paying now for insurance. Much less costly. And it would spur economic growth by lowering the bar for businesses to hire people.

If you don't understand that basic concept, you probably should avoid discussing the issue until you've educated yourself.

16. Taking opinion and projections as fact
also shows ignorance.

It is the opinion of single payer supporters that says the majority of people, who happen to be satisfied with their current plan, would be happier under single payer and they project that it will be cheaper and businesses will hire more people. I personally agree with that opinion and believe those projections, but those beliefs mean nothing when dealing with people who place individual rights before dollars.

If you refuse to understand that basic fact, you probably should just put your fingers in your ears and start screaming "we need to move further left."

17. We need to move further to the left
If you don't understand that, get ready to lose a lot of elections.

differently.

Unless you have an agenda to push.

6. Who's "we"?
Democrats?

Or the "True Democrats (tm)"?

Democrats ran and won in 2008. Unfortunately, the franchise wasn't restricted to True Democratic (tm) Voters who would elect True Democrats (tm) to execute the True Will (tm) of the True We the People (tm).

Sorry, I'm not into oligarchies, even if we dub them the Rule of the Pure. I've seen in on a small scale, considered it a deceptive form of oppression, seriously didn't like it, don't see how the idea has improved with age.

They aren't worth it.
