Another reason not to go to theaters: Corporate spying.
"Gaining entry to some movie theaters lately gives patrons an experience that is on par with going through a TSA security checkpoint at the airport. Then once you’ve gained access, there are cameras strategically positioned that record your every move. Unfortunately, the extent to which these companies monitor movie-goers is only going to get worse."

They claim it is to combat piracy, but that is just the justification to spy on us.

IMO government isn't the problem, it is corporate America. They don't have to play by the rules because they have the money, they make the rules.

1. When the TSA was introduced, my premise was that it was being used to
indoctrinate people into living in a police state. This is evidence of that coming true.

2. If they want to record my reaction to a film, they can pay for it in a focus group.
I'm not even sure it's even legal to make commercial use of an audience's image without express consent. If I found out a theater chain was doing this secretly, I'd sue them.

3. Holy shit, you mean we can't sneak beer in anymore?
Dammit! Guess we'll have to take some bourbon and sneak it into one of them overpriced drinks they sell. I could prolly get by with that.

4. It is this sort of monitoring that gives us explosions, fart jokes and gratuitous sex.
I am not sure if we can stop it, but I sure hope we can figure out how to beat it.

5. Shot the camera the bird. Hold up signs. Inform the audience. Inform the
Theater that you own your likeness and that they will have to sign a release and agree on a fee to film you.

10. So the Ad agencies can see responses first hand.
With all the money that goes into ads, being able to gage consumer responses first hand is valuable. I believe you can be filmed, ostensibly for security, but to use your likeness would cost them money. Nobody wants to see my mug, aside from those who want to sell me something. I already resent seeing ads when I pay to see a film, so my response to anything other than previews is going to be negative frustration. Wonder if the technology is good enough to measure pupil response?

13. 3D glasses would frustrate the camera. I will wait for
the movies to be released on DVD or through the iTunes store.
