I know, I know, it would look like petty revenge, but there are several reasons: 1. They indirectly supported a particular political party through donations. 2. They directly supported a particular political party by giving free air-time to candidates of that party to solicit donations. 3. They directly supported a particular political party by urging viewers to donate to that party or its candidates. 4. Their reporting is of low quality, because they broadcast falsehoods on an almost regular basis.
The WH could get this job done in one or two weeks. Ask Mediamatters for their data, maybe presorted, and ask some liberals to skim through it (they would do it for free!).
And then a nice, short press release. "... Because of these 434 instances of unprofessional behavior over the last six months, we no longer deem Fox News capable of reporting from the White House in a nonpartisan and agenda-free manner. Therefore, to give Fox News the necessary breathing space to increase its quality, we relieve them of their responsibility and burden of a seat in the White House briefing room. We hope, that one day, they will be able to reclaim their high standards of a fair and balanced reporting. ..."
