Population Density Matters!
http://www.cnn.com/ELECTION/2010/results/main.results/#val=H

Take a look at the interactive House results map - if you hover your mouse over any area it will tell you the number of Ds and Rs elected in that state.

The right likes to make a big deal of that huuuuuuuugh red map - but hover over those huuuuuuuuugh red states and you will see reality - 1, 2, 3 Republicans elected. Total. This is because those big huuuuuuugh states have very few actual people in them. The reason the blue is small and seems isolated is because it is in the places where huge numbers of people actually live.

Consider that.

Yeah, we lost the majority in the House - but the map makes it look a LOT bleaker than the reality.

5. True, but...
... but that map was blue in a lot of places it isn't anymore.

If all the Democratic Party is, is the party of the urban centre, then we will be in the minority for good. There are no electoral majorities that can be formed while losing virtually all non-urban districts.

This party seriously needs to figure out, and fast, how to win votes outside of cities.
