The crazies plan "Climate Fraud" hearings
http://politicalwire.com/archives/2010/11/03/looking_ahead.html

Marc Ambinder: "The GOP plans to hold high profile hearings examining the alleged 'scientific fraud' behind global warming, a sleeper issue in this election that motivated the base quite a bit."

1. Let them
Moronic assholes like Inhoffe actually believe that climate change science is a massive conspiracy and they won't rest until they get their hearings. Much like all the idiocy over "intelligent design" though the reality will come out in the wash.

4. Yeah, I don't think they can really change many people's minds _away_ from
knowing the truth about the massive climate change we have in effect due to human influence. The worst they can do is preach to the choir and maybe grab a few people who weren't paying attention before.

6. You're right
Let them have at it. And, you know something, we shouldn't even fight it. Heck, let them hold hearings on the age of the planet. The Dems should stay home. Better yet, one dem should sit on the panel, and the only question he should ask is, "Who has funded your research?"

Let these people make fools of themselves. It will only result in the further degradation of the country. Let the Chinese grab the renewable energy industry. Let them build the wind turbines and the solar panels, and let's see how that goes over with Americans looking for jobs.

7. Oh, I wish this were happening in the Senate and we could send Al Franken!
Hmm, who would be the best Dem in Congress to endure this sort of asshattery?

19. Actually, Franken was not that helpful in getting a bill that woul deal with climate change
He was one of 14 Democrats concerned about coal interests.

If this were in the Senate the best Democrat by far to have on the committee questioning this would be John Kerry, who is the most knowledgeable, the most eloquent advocate, the best at grilling people who are lying, and the best debater. Al Franken is nowhere near to Kerry on any of these things.

In the House, Markey is the best.

Have you seen this speech he gave at Powershift last year yeta? http://demopedia.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=385x278736

Is there even going to be a Subcommittee on Energy and Environment now these loons have taken over the House?

31. I did not see that one, but saw others that were on line
Unless they change the committee definitions, which does happen from time to time - Yes. But, the bad news is that Joe Barton - the man who apologized to BP - will be the chair. He is currently the ranking member. http://energycommerce.house.gov/index.php?option=com_content&view=category&layout=blog&id=160&Itemid=61

14. Apparently.
But, on the plus side, this fraudulent pseudoscience that doesn't exist has allowed me to fill my yard with all kinds of things that shouldn't be growing in Michigan, like Windmill palms, crinums, passion vines, bamboos, all kinds of Zone 7 plants here in Zone 6 that now winter over for me with just a little extra protective mulching.

I guess they're a figment of my imagination. I need to cover them up in the next few weeks with imaginary mulch.

9. Well, all of the hearings in the world
won't stop the fury of Mother Nature when the ecosystem is trashed.

Let them have hearings after hearings after hearings.

People will start to believe it when it happens to them, over and over again.

Of course, it will be too late by then, probably, to stop it.

On days like today, I often think the best thing for the planet is for our species to perish, and something fresh and new to evolve. Maybe that is what a runaway greenhouse effect will do to the Earth.

Hopefully, I'll be in a better mood another, better day.

Peace.

would cause a few people to start to think, but one would be wrong, apparently.

target the theory of GRAVITY next.

Take it one step further conservatives, shun intellectualism and science altogether. Get your medical care from the average Joe down the street.

23. Scientific Illiteracy
The metastasizing scientific illiteracy of the US body politic (evidenced by, i.e., the Chinese lead in super computers) is one reason we are facing economic collapse (the other reason is the drain of the warS in Iraq and Afghanistan).

Deficits, national debts, and GOP dreams are only tertiary factors.

26. What's the point?
They KNOW oil is becoming scarce...you can see that in how desperate they are for new drilling in more remote places where it is more expensive and harder to get the oil...they are finding new studies disproving large amounts of oil where they thought it was...point being - we have to get off of oil...so what is the point of even arguing about climate change - it's moot...

28. The only frauds, are the ones bringing up this hearing.
Global Warming, and climate change is a FACT.
It is documented in so many peer-reviewed papers, it's not funny, and if we don't do something about it in the next five years, it's OVER for the Human Race on Planet Earth.
This is what their stupid hearings will reveal.
