Repubs re-take the major seats in Ohio just in time for re-districting.

That's the long-term impact of the Republican sweep in Ohio Tuesday. Now, they can gerrymander the state's congressional districts to their advantage. I would expect Ohio to lose at least one seat following the Census, so, they'll try to pit two Democrats against each other if they can.

small consolation I know, just seeking to refudiate a misperconception I might or might not have.

5. It's done by a board which will be occupied primarily by Republicans.

The board consists of the governor, state auditor, secretary of state and a Democrat and Republican chosen by legislative leaders (Cleveland Plain Dealer Feb., 2010).

Once the new legislature and state officers take over, Republicans would have a 4-1 majority on this commission. The two legislative appointees would likely just cancel each other out, essentially giving Republicans a 3-0 advantage on the panel.
