Infighting! Bachmann To Run For House Leadership
Brian Beutler | TPM
November 3, 2010, 3:24PM

<snip>

Conservative Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) -- founder of the Tea Party Caucus -- will make a bid to be part of House leadership next Congress, likely touching off a tough intra-GOP for influence over the new majority.

In a message to her supporters on Facebook, Bachmann writes, "I am pleased to announce that I am running for Chairman of the House Republican Conference! Constitutional Conservatives deserve a loud and clear voice in leadership!"

That's a recipe for a leadership fight.
Earlier today, current conference chair Mike Pence informed his colleagues he will not seek re-election to that position in January. Wasting no time, Whip Eric Cantor -- who will run for Majority Leader in the 112th Congress -- nominated the early favorite, Rep. Jeb Hensarling (R-TX) to fill that slot.

Hensarling is no moderate. But between the more than four dozen members already in Bachmann's caucus and the giant incoming class -- which is chock full of tea party-backed candidates -- we could have a real race here.

6. Palace intrigues and sociopaths
history repeats. Being a witness to the 'fall of Rome II' is no fun from my perspective, though.

7. She's hoping - even if she doesn't win - that she will get concessions of some kind.
Either way, it's a potential win-win for her and her 'caucus'... if she can deliver a coalition of tea grinds that the GOP needs. And with "more than four dozen members already in Bachmann's caucus and the giant incoming class -- which is chock full of tea party-backed candidates", she just might have enough leverage.

As disturbing as that thought is...

8. "Constitutional Conservative"
Are you kidding me? She would add Constitutional amendments to ban anything that isn't white, Christian and/or a part of the far-right extreme.

So we have a three-way between Boehner, Bachmann and Cantor? Should be fun. Can't wait to see those already visible fractures grow deep and wide.

17. Actually, these are three different positions in the leadership.
Boner is in line to become the first orange Speaker of the House. Cantor wishes to become majority leader (presently Steny Hoyer of MD), while Bachmann Loser Overdrive wants to be "takin' care of business" in place of Mike Pence (IN) as the repuke conference chair.

15. Yeah, at least we are going to get some good entertaining spectacle out of this.
Teabags are going to get real mad when Boehner tries to corral the nuts.
