Alan Grayson in my email, today. Poignant.
Dear XXXXX,

One thing that I’ve heard a lot from people during the last two years is that I’ve been saying what you’ve been thinking. Well, since the election last night (which I lost), you’ve been saying what I’ve been thinking. So I’m going to turn over the rest of this e-mail to some of my Facebook friends, who wrote to me today:

“This is what happens when someone goes up against big corporations like insurance companies. They make sure that you don’t get reelected. Wake up, America!” - Cathy

“Don’t give up! Continue to fight! People see your passion, and believe in what you stand for.” – Rita

“You must come back! We need people with honesty, integrity and dignity! Thank you so much for all of your work, and especially your compassion!” – Susan

“Thanks for speaking for me so many times in the past, but I know we’ll need your voice more than ever now!” – Ellen

“I will miss someone like you in the House. You speak for everyday people!” – Aljorie

“You speak the truth and you are our hero. You are such an awesome leader. We are here to support you, harder and stronger next time.” – Pamela

“Yours is a rare voice of courage, decency and humor in a dismal swamp of corruption. I trust that you will be back in a role where you can do even more good. You have our great respect.” – Jon

“The future is awaiting you. One door closes, one opens up!” – Carla

“Please take some time for yourself and your family right now. Then regroup, re-energize and re-run!” – Christine

“Please keep the faith that we have faith in you. I have been delighted by your no-nonsense speaking of the truth.” – Angela

“All of us in America welcome your voice. You speak for folks like me, just an old granny with my grandkids trying to make a living and doing the best we can. Don’t stray far . . . America will be calling you back.” – Judi

“You are not done. You will continue to change and inspire the world.” – Tina.

“What do you want to do next? We are behind you 100% of the way!! Thanks for what you have done for us, and please know we progressives support your future endeavors. We need you.” – Renee

“You have a bright future as one of the most articulate and passionate voices on the side of what’s right. Keep up the good work. You have my admiration and gratitude.” – Eddie

“How can we help you come back in 2012?” – Keith.

To every one of you who helped, who spoke, who listened, and who cared, THANK YOU.

As Ted Kennedy said in 1980, after he lost the Presidential Primary, "the work goes on, the cause endures, the hope still lives, and the dream shall never die."

We’re all in this together.

Courage,

Alan Grayson

1. Rep. Grayson please take this advice: "regroup, re-energize and re-run!”
We the people for whom you fought so valiantly and against such great odds, need to start organizing to get you back in Congress, starting as soon as you are ready.

THEY have money, but we have the numbers.

I haven't checked this out, but if there is a Senate race that you could run in, we should start targeting that seat right now, collecting donations, preparing ads, talking about the issues, on the air, in print, online, and even person to person.

We should adopt Grayson and make him the 'people's candidate'. The party won't help him, but we can.

We should organize fun events to raise funds and show them that when the people put their minds to it, all the money in the world won't help them.

By two years from now, I know people will be ready for Rep. Grayson's return to fight for them once again. We know what is going to happen.

And we should watch and comment and call on, email, write letters to the local papers, what Grayson's future opponent is up to.

Come Baaaaaack, Rep. Grayson, we so very, badly need you!

2. I like this idea. 'Adopt Rep. Grayson and help him win
in the next election'.

I'm thinking of all the fun events we could have too as we prepare to take back Congress. I know he needs a break right now, but starting in January maybe.

Why do we let the party choose the candidates anyhow? Why can't we do it ourselves?

I'd also like to see Russ Feingold back in office, maybe as Governor or in six years, how about Feingold/Grayson or 'Grayson/Feingold for the White House?

But he should not disappear. The very sight of him scares the Republicans so badly they were willing to part with all that money. He would be helping the economy too, I like making Republicans waste their money.

:kick: for a great Congressman and future Senator, Congressman, whatever he decides.

3. A true fighter, and a brilliant one. If he would just add poverty to his list of causes, he would
have my undying support.

The only thing about him that left me cold is his constant intoning of "the middle class".

What are we poor people, chopped liver?

We need you, Alan. We ALL need you. Speak for us poor folk, too.

4. I really feel for losing candidates "the day after"
They've been going non-stop for 6 months (or longer) at a thousand miles per hour, all in preparation for ONE DAY.

Then they lose, and ...... nothing. Nothing to look forward to in the immediate future, nothing to DO but make alternative plans.

In the meantime, there are staff members to let go, bills to pay and offices to clean out.

It's depressing what they go through. But some do it, time after time.

Grayson will be back. Bet on it.
