I kid you not, the "I" word being bantered about already.
Overheard at work, read on Facebook, encountered here at DU (someone posting about a Republican, not making the suggestion himself), heard on the radio....

Apparently now the Republicans are in control of the House the country can be rescued by an Impeachment of President Obama.

Just another nail in the coffin of knowledge and intelligence.

Disagree with a politician in office? Impeach!

Do these idiots even know what impeachment is or how it works? That's a rhetorical question, the answers are contained within.

22. The point is not to remove him from office. The point is to ruin his Presidency.
The point is to ruin President Obama's legacy. To stamp his administration forever with the shameful tag "Impeached".

And, not incidentally, to clear a path for a Republican White House in 2012 or 2016.

Nobody remembers that Bill Clinton was acquitted. All they remember is that he was impeached.

Are there any (R) voices of reason left in the House?

I can't think of any off hand.

My house member... a Republican, but not horrid: he voted against the Iraq War and against Clinton's impeachment and we re-elected to his umpteenth term yesterday.

On edit: "We" is subjective. I didn't vote for him, but "we," my district, did.

It IS about Watergate, they haven't gotten over it.

I was in our barracks in Germany watching the only TV station (AFN) and a Republican Congressman said something about starting impeachment proceedings.

14. Impeachment
I believe that the Republicans will use this as a tool to get absolutely nothing done for the next two years. I guess expecting a Republican to say thanks for a chance to clean up the economic mess they created is way too much to expect. I think times are about to get much worse.

perhaps its time to use that knowledge to make tapes saying that all the terrorist organizations support the republican party because they are on the same page, and make sure it is broadcast everywhere.

17. I kind of hope they do it...
With a Republican House it's game over for getting anything done anyway, so the inevitable circus isn't exactly cutting into any serious legislative work. It may be better to have them overplay their hand and make it abundantly clear that they'd rather grandstand over fabricated charges rather than do anything at all to make life better for Americans. And maybe they should try shutting down the government again, that worked great for Speaker Newt, didn't it?

19. Impeachment for what, I wonder?
Impeachment is still a laughable option that no Republican is even considering, but let's say some nutty far-right Republicans were to get in some how. I wonder what they would try to impeach Obama for? :)

26. I'm sure they fabricate some bullshit about that supposed "land deal" in Chicago
I know it don't amount to a hill of beans, but I'm fully expecting it to happen. There's enough crazies in the house now to pull the trigger, but I think/hope Obama's a good enough politician to make it backfire in their faces.

23. Well, wasn't that the whole point?
They lost and it pissed them off. They want their country back, they want to take it back from the crazy socialist, nazi, hamas loving, terrorist who was born in Kenya. Who happened to be legally elected by a majority of the people in a Democratic society. Funny, I don't know what country they want back but they can have it. I'll stay in America for the time being.

28. Not yet they won't
I think they save the impeachment card for when they can't come up with any "real" plan, and can't keep find ways to lie to the people about how they are "working on it"! Once they figure out they are losing the battle they will try the impeachment card. It will be to late and will only make things worse if they do, but when you have nothing to offer, well go for broke!

29. The "I" word was brought up as soon as Obama became the nominee
In fact, a site about impeaching Obama was registered before it was clear he would win the nomination. The Republicans knew they would lose in 2008. They planned to attempt impeachment as soon as they had the power to try it. They would have attempted it no matter which the Democratic President was in office. I would not be surprised if they continue to attempt any and every Democratic President to hold office until one party or another is destroyed.

That is why I never understood why the Democrats did not go ahead and impeach GWB since there was a clear case for doing so and more than sufficient evidence. <sigh>

30. Hell yes, let's impeach! ROBERTS and the rest of the activist 5 on the Supreme Court!
If the Republicans go after another sitting president again, then we should go ahead and start doing the same with the supreme court. What's good for the goose is good for the gander! Especially if we can get a majority in 2012 to do it and a Democrat elected as president. They will have set the precedent then.

31. Here's the interesting thing this is basically all that they have
they have had since 2006 to come up with a plan and they never took the time to do anything. Their platform has been Tax cuts and they know no jobs will be created.

So expect them to take this path...we need to raise hell and demand "Where are the Jobs"?
