2. You just noticed that?
I have been watching for about 4 days and it is looking better, believe it or not. Was supposed to enter Haiti as a major hurricane but now will be a Cat. 1 (trying hard to be positive, I'll rather not see anything like this happening but it looks like it will happen).

My deepest concern is that it looks like it will make a look back to Haiti! How horrible is that!!!! I can't say I pray but I have them in my thoughts.

4. We were on hurricane watch yesterday
We've been following this since it hit the Eastern Caribbean last week. It was too far away to make a call. We're going to get a swipe in the East.

6. Be safe!
Things are not looking good. That thing looks like is going to make a loop back to DR and maybe affect Haiti twice. My husband and I have been watching this system.

15. We're back on Tropical stoprm warning this morning
Schools are closed and evacuation centers are open.
Of course the incompetent government is scared shitless because they did not warn anyone about Nicole so we know a lot of this is because of the recent failure.

That said as long as Tomas continues moving NNW we are not out of danger.

I well remember TS Gustav was supposed to pass above us but he turned over night and ran right through the island from one end to the other.

17. You would THINK those people would move somewhere safe like Detroit or Newark.
Not to make light of their situation, but that is the basic GOP attitude and we'll be hearing a lot of it for the next two years. What is NOT the GOP attitude is doing something to help them after the storm. That was basically the point I was getting at. "They live there so they deserve what they get" - like they have any choice OTHER than to live where they are.

They are close neighbors and we're the country that should provide support and relief. "Will we" is another matter.
