FDR: "Government by organized money is just as dangerous as government by organized mob"
As he approached his 2nd term in office Franklin Roosevelt (my favorite President) spoke in Manhattan to the American People as he faced a situation very similar on so many dimensions as President Obama does today with Karl Rove and the Supreme Court trying to buy the levers of the government that rules over us.

Here is a powerful short youtube link so you can hear the words of the great FDR and I hope you will find inspirational.

Abrazos to everyone. :)

1. This was great.
REAL leadership sounds so unfamiliar these days.

"They are UNANIMOUS in their hate for me, and I WELCOME their hatred!"

That is what a man with an actual backbone sounds like. I find it so inspiring on a personal level. He is still a hell of a role model 74 years later.

This was a man who knew who his (and our) enemies were, and didn't have any intention of spending a minute playing footie with them. He came to the joint to drop bombs, and that's just what he did. If the enemies didn't like it (and they most certainly didn't), FDR had nothing for them but the world's smallest fiddle.

Because of it, I and millions upon millions of others have food on the table when we wouldn't otherwise.

2. Wasn't he magnificent? That same speech could be made today.
"He is still a hell of a role model 74 years later," you write. I say, Word!

8. I agree. This thread and FDR's speech

Say everything that needs to be said about the current situation.

This thread is worth 20 Obama-criticizing threads. Despite being long-dead, FDR can *still* lead by example.

I just wish our current "Dems," Obama included, would get a load of this.

well-monied, and associates of the mob.

11. Listening to FDR's words, I find
is something that is guarenteed to boost the spirits of anyone who has become dispirited at the political scene in America today.

1933 - 1945 was a period in which there truly can be no denying that we were blessed with a great leader - and a great man - at the helm in a time of crisis. Sometimes it turns out that we really do get the leaders that we need, not the ones that we deserve.

15. It is becoming more and more difficult to tell the difference
between organized money and organized crime. The monied interests are robbing us blind. The biggest difference is they use corrupt politicians and right wing media rather than guns and "muscle" to achieve their goals.

Thanks for posting. Recommended.
