I think Obama MAY just say "Fuck it" and go balls out doing what he was elected to do instead of trying to walk a tightrope.

I think this MAY remind voters why they ousted the GOP last election, thereby sealing the next presidential term for the Dems.

They are in power, but they are all dressed up with no place to go. They have no ideas other than "no" to everything. Buyer's remorse will set in soon enough, especially when they try to deliver on their promises to touch the third rail (kill SS, etc). Voters will like that in practice a hell of a lot less than they liked it in principle.

15. Much to my surprise, I'm oddly energized and encouraged by this "bloodbath" -

I'm thinking that Obama may stop with the 'compromise' attempts (I think he HAD to say that yesterday, politically), that the Republicans will be shown for what they are, and the Teabaggers will probably not gain any more fans (I think those who are drawn to them have already aligned themselves). And in two more years I think many of the good things that Obama HAS set in motion will become more apparent to the people.

The rethugs CANNOT repeal Health Insurance Reform.

Downside? My Gay Teenager didn't come any closer to having the SAME Civil Rights that every other American Citizen has, and she probably won't until the planets align again and the Dems control all three branches of government once more.

My pony was sacrificed at The Altar of Political Expediency, after My Guy promised me it'd be one of his highest priorities once he was elected.

I talked with my Daughter today. She told me her First Election was one of the Big Disappointments of her life so far. At the end of our conversation, she asked if I'd continue voting for things she believed in. I told her I've voted the same way since before she was born. I ended by telling her my wish for her to have the same rights I have is so strong that maybe in 2012 we'd sit down together and she could tell me how she wanted me to vote so that HER vote could be 2x as effective.

Her last words: "My Man. Sweet Dreams Dad."

I think Obama needs to get control of his presidency and seriously push for the things he promised. Compromise is all well and good if you're dealing with reasonable people, but these Republicans (and some Democrats) are not reasonable people. He needs to shame them all into passing legislation now that will help people who are suffering. The administration needs to get hold of the message and explain to people clearly what's going on, how the corporations are outsourcing their jobs, how the rich just get richer on the backs of the poor and middle class. Who benefits from all the lax regulation and legislation that favors corporations and gives tax breaks for outsourcing? (Hint, it's not the American people.)

The president has to understand the peril we're in if he doesn't take a strong stand. I'm really hoping he doesn't let us down.

16. Not a whole lot of good news up here except...

...that hopefully "write-in" will hold the lead over Joe Miller, and that enough Murkowski votes survive to keep her ahead. She's Republican and she'll probably vote like Joe would, but at least she's sane. Maybe she'll be more responsive to her Democratic constituents since many of them gave her the edge.
