Qantas A380 Airbus loses an Engine

The Australian airline Qantas has grounded its six-strong fleet of Airbus A380 airliners after one of the superjumbos made an emergency landing.

Qantas flight QF32 experienced engine trouble shortly after taking off from Singapore on its way to Sydney.

One of the engines "exploded with a loud bang" and the plane started shaking, a passenger told the BBC.

Pieces of debris believed to be from an aircraft were found on the nearby Indonesian island of Batam.

Qantas said the plane, with 433 passengers and 26 crew on board, experienced an "engine issue" over western Indonesia shortly after taking off from Singapore time at about 1000 (0200 GMT).

5. Reminds me of the occasion

when an engine "fell off" an airliner taking off from Heathrow back in the late '60s early '70s. It landed in a local reservoir , was recovered and put back into service. An engineer had forgotten to tighten just 3 bolts. I already knew of the event but not the cause and subsequent re-use which was later explained to me by some BOAC/BA engineers.

I'm 67 and so can remember easily the music from the very early '60s when it first reached the UK on the Blue Beat label. In those days we just called it Blue Beat without even realising why. Also a matter of what you want to do with it. You can dance to ska, rocksteady and reggae but less so to blues. Odd thing is I never realised it was broadly a reversed swing beat until a few years ago.

16. Its not that hard

to just clap your hands / let your body bounce on the even beats and step on the odd beats, for swing music and rock 'n roll anyway, and that's a good start. I started dancing August 1960 when I was 16 in a successful effort to help overcome shyness.

I too also like old time american traditional music including blues. :)
