The single most important thing that the Democrats can do
is to let ALL the Bush Tax Cuts expire.

Let’s call their bluff.

They’ve been telling us for the past year that the most critical issue we face is the large Federal Deficit – OK – letting the tax cuts expire will cut the deficit IN HALF ! There is no other action that either party could take that has as powerful an effect on one of the core issues driving our politics.

As a patriotic American I’m happy to give my $300.00 a year tax break back to our government to balance the budget and make our country stronger. I’m sure all the Billionaires out there are willing to do the same.

We control the Senate so all that is needed to make this happen is to DO NOTHING! The tax cuts expire on December 31.

Most economists agree that the tax cuts were a Republican shame that damaged the economy and the letting them expire will, if coupled with an aggressive jobs creation program, be a big step towards getting us out of this mess.

So, what do you say – are you with me?

Call your Senators and the White House and tell them: Let all the Bush Tax Cuts expire!

they're going down the wrong road.

9. Yep, there it is: "Obama Signals Compromise on Tax Cuts".
To translate into freeper: "compromise" = "surrender".

16. We need a freakin' leader
Obama is not an ambassador , he's not a diplomat, he's not a lobbyist, he's the Freakin' President of the United States. We need a leader!!! This is not the time to surrender, this is the time to use his position, his influence, and the Senate to get things done.

If the school yard bullies kick your ass, they aren't going to stop because you ask them real nice.

Take my tax cut Mr. President and use it to create a government jobs program to rebuild our highways, bridges, tunnels, roads...jobs that would put money into the hands of working people. But don't use my tax cut to bail out Goldman Sachs!!!

One Democrat could filibuster the Bush Tax Cuts and stop it. I'd give up my tax cut too.

the flow in the Senate, maybe someone who's got nothing to lose? Oh, let me think... FEINGOLD.

20. The beauty of it is - they don't need to do anything.
By simply doing nothing, the tax cuts expire.

6. taxes
I agree call the Republicans bluff on reducing the national debt. They are blowing smoke up the Americans ass with this tax cut extension crap. I can't believe the American voters bought into the Republicans promise to reduce the debt when they were the ones that shot it through the roof. They sure weren't concerned about it when Bush was the President.

If my taxes go up, so be it as long as these billionaire CEOs are all included.

Yeah! Let's see if those flag waving, apple pie lovin', private jet owning patriots will give a little to really help turn things around. They can keep my tax cut too.

11. With you 100%...
I am not rich - or even close to it - even with both my wife and I working full-time jobs, and her picking up extra shifts on weekends when we can find childcare (my current job is weekend graveyard, 6P-6A). Extra taxes would be a bite in the ass, but the potential benefits, like a non-bankrupt government, would be worth it and might be offsetting the expected push for "austerity measures", which would prove to be MUCH more painful overall.

We are faced with no good choices here...but I choose the least bad option - expiring ALL Bush tax cuts, including my pittance from them! Call the bluff - people who make more than $250K, even small businesses that foolishly file as individuals instead of as S-corps, will not go out of business. The choices are between helping the very few and having the pain born by the very many (expanding all tax cuts and allowing the richest to keep the lion's share of tax cuts indefinitely; and doing this against the actual proof that these cuts did NOT create jobs - otherwise the Bush Administration would have been the BEST at job creation instead of the WORST); or spreading the pain of this current budgetary nightmare amongst ALL the people (allowing ALL cuts to expire on schedule and forcing the most wealthy to give back their excessive portion of the overall tax cuts in an effort to address the revenue side of the budget equation)

Once again, RAISE MY TAXES PLEASE!

15. +1. We'll take the pain of losing the tax cut to help with the deficit.
Edited on Thu Nov-04-10 09:28 AM by gkhouston
After all, we've known for years that the cut was going to end this year.
