It sucks that the people in TX-2 had nothing to vote for on that one. It's why my ballot was blank in that spot.

This was the "other choice"... the Libertarian who ran against him:

I live in an area that is a mini United Nations, in my father's words. This is reprehensible.

1. Why don't you run? Start talking to local groups such as the PTA, Girl Scouts, etc about

the responsibility of the government to the people and what you expect from elected leaders. Good luck.

2. Because I am a widow with a young child and a job. Why don't I, instead,
since I just moved here, support a viable candidate for the Democratic Party for next election? I am unelectable. :hi:

3. It's a valid point
If not you, encourage someone like-minded to run. I agree with your OP that there are just far too many seats out there where one side or the other is running unopposed.

4. Especially in areas that they don't "represent". Ted Poe has nothing
in common with the average voter here. Conroe, where the Libertarian challenger is from is a more small town area of the segment of Houston I am from.

8. I will support and work for a Democratic candidate.
Finding one requires about as much work as being one. Point of OP was missed here I see.

6. So he really did win. Quotation marks aren't appropriate.

13. It's the same situation as Iraq?
No opposition party was permitted in this race?

19. Of course not but the hyperbole allows insight into the feeling of the voter.

14. No, they're inappropriate
It's a common habit on DU, and a silly one, to use quotation marks to attack the opposition's credibility.

The Democrats chose not to run someone in that race. But they were not legally barred from doing so. He won that race, in reality, in actuality.

Sorry. Appropriate. We could bicker about this all day. But, I've got to go to work. Cheers.

18. That's a meaningless statement
Lack of opposition makes the win extremely easy, of course, but it's still a win.

Edited on Thu Nov-04-10 11:36 AM by Cleita
one name, Republican Kevin McCarthy, was on my ballot for my congressional district, yet our Democrats won't run anyone because they say the seat is un-winnable. So what! We need a choice! Sometimes it's the Dems who are at fault for our failures.

17. Sounds like you got gerrymandered clear out of Houston by DeLay
they picked off just enough of the far northern suburbs to take them away from a Bluer district in Houston proper, but obviously, not enough to pose any threat to Poe.
