Blix responds to Bush: "I wish (Bush) had had that feeling before he went to war"

http://www.hurriyetdailynews.com/n.php?n=ex-un-inspector-responds-to-bushs-feeling-about-iraq-2010-11-04

The United Nations’ former weapons inspector has reacted to former U.S. President George W. Bush’s apparent “sickening feeling” about failing to find weapons in Iraq in 2003, saying it is unfortunate the U.S. leader had not had such thoughts before launching the Iraq War.

“I wish (Bush) had had that feeling before he went to war,” Hans Blix said Thursday at Istanbul Bilgi University.

...

“We never said we were convinced that Iraq had no weapons of mass destruction. Because proving the negative is difficult. There is always a residue of uncertainty. The aim of inspections are to minimize this residue,” he said.

“I told the U.S. and the U.K.: You recommended for us to inspect three dozens places and we did not find WMD,” said Blix who is also the former head of International Atomic Energy Agency.

“They were 100-percent convinced that Iraq had WMD, but zero-percent knowledge on where these WMD were,” he said. “If you are so convinced about the presence of the WMD, then tell us where they are.”

Noting that the Americans “misled themselves and misled the world,” Blix said, “I wish he had critical thinking.”

3. So true
What a shame Bush won't be put on trial for war crimes and acts of aggression.

4. I wish News Organizations took the obligation of public service to heart
Neither then nor now are they holding the truth as something worthy of presentation.

Opinions here and opinions there and the rest is left for commericals.

6. Thanks for posting this
The fact that inspections were ongoing and were ordered to be stopped by Bush just prior to launching his unprovoked and illegal attack on Iraq is always omitted from our propaganda. Now, all Americans hear is, "The surge worked".

http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/iraq/2003-03-17-inspectors-iraq_x.htm

"U.S advises weapons inspectors to leave Iraq
VIENNA, Austria (AP) — In the clearest sign yet that war with Iraq is imminent, the United States has advised U.N. weapons inspectors to begin pulling out of Baghdad, the U.N. nuclear agency chief said Monday."

"History is the propaganda of the victor."

10. They wanted to start the war quickly
As I recall, the rationale ws that then it would be over before the hottest months of the summer in Iraq and thus make it easier on our troops. :banghead:

8. I want to know who exactly "overwhelmed" Bush's will on this matter.
Was it Cheney?
Powell?
Rove?
Wanting to do better than his father the first time in Iraq?
Jim Beam?

11. Remember, Rumsfeld knew where the WMD was -
"Just a little North, South, East and West of Tikrit"

9. Bush didn't go to war. He stayed home with "Pilly".
Edited on Thu Nov-04-10 11:28 AM by glitch
He did send the sons and daughters of the USA and its allies to war on the peoples of Iraq and Afghanistan though.

Edit: to be clear, not calling Laura "Pilly". Pilly is the name Bush gives to his favorite pillow, which he travels with.

12. Luckily, we aren't going to investigate any of this
So, as the truth continues to ooze out like an over-jellied PBJ, all investigations into these crimes against humanity are off the table, because Democrats don't want to politicize political decisions. You think any of the survivors of the casualties in Iraq and Afghanistan would like to know what our noble cause is for these continued atrocities? We can either police this mess ourselves, or someone else will do it for us, and they might not be too careful about the niceties of due process or getting the actual guilty parties.

You all don't mind being at risk of death for the crimes of the Bush administration, do you?

14. Acknowledgement of the truth is off the table,
never mind prosecution, because so many key Democrats were complicit in the charade.

13. He's actually being charitable.
Think back to weapons inspections. The UN was doing a thorough job searching for WMD's and was prevented from finishing it's work only by the threat of US attack. Blix was telling anybody who would listen that Iraq had no active WMD program while "serious" people in media and government just laughed him off as an appeaser.

Rush Limbaugh's joke of the day was "no new Blixes" ah hahha. :(
