Defeat the Republican Noise Machine Step #1: "Table scrap economics."

Why have we been letting them re-frame every debate? It's like we always agree to play football on their practice field. "Oh sure, it's regulation size, but we get to run downhill."

It's bunk. they frame the message, we repeat it and defend ourselves from there:

"Sure, John Kerry's a flip-flopper, but..."

"Sure, Joe Biden should keep his mouth shut, but..."

"Sure, Barack Obama is in the pocket of Wall Steet, but.."

We let them name things "The Patriot Act" and "No Child Left Behind." We let them call it "pro-life" when they'll abandon anything poor, dark-skinned or out of the womb. That's not pro-life, it's pro-embryo-to-fetus and then, like George Carlin says, it's "f*** 'em."

So, let's start re-framing the debate. Instead of finding barbs like repukes, repugs, rethugs which are just antagonistic (and admittedly, sometimes a little bit fun),let's use and re-use our own re-framing of the big issues.

I'll start:

Trickle Down Economics - Table Scrap Economics
Bush Tax Cuts - Bush Debt Traps.
Tea Party - Retroublicans
Republican - Reblican't.
Tax cuts for the wealthy - The wealthy's fair share.

(there's that dreaded word!)

If they start ranting about socialism, ask:
What are you more afraid of, socialism or oligarchy? Who's going to be free if the rich control everything?

6. How about this analogy?:

Imagine the US is a mall. And we want people to spend money here...on shoes and coats an exercise bike and maybe a nice stereo system. So we give money back to the people who will spend it here. Like a gift certificate. What we don't do is hand out wads of cash to some guy who will jump on a jet and head to Europe or Asia to see what he can get cheaper.

He also goes into the success of the republican 10 word platform and the need for liberals/progressives to start to fight fire with fire.

5. I just read his HuffPo piece about the independent voters who are caught between two mindsets.

If they're susceptible to FOX persuasion and soundbites, I say we give it to them, but instead of distorting the truth, we just make it digestible. Give them something portable and memorable that they can carry around and use when they need it.

I mean, if a pet or a kid needs medicine they're unwilling to take, what's wrong with wrapping it in a piece of hotdog or a little strawberry syrup?
