If you somehow knew that a giant octopus was going to tear down the Golden Gate Bridge in 2011 and the Republicans wanted to keep the Bush rich-tax cuts, and if you were a ruthless politician you would say:
If the Republicans get their way and extend these unjust tax cuts a giant octopus will tear down the golden gate bridge.
And if the Republicans are going to add additional federal burdens to choice you would say:
Reducing a woman's right to chose in this way will have disastrous results... a giant octopus will tear down the golden gate bridge.
And so on.
Substitute high unemployment and stagnant GDP growth for the giant octopus and it all falls into place.
Bush thought he *knew* there would be further massive terror attacks here so he arranged everything so that when it happened it would be our fault somehow. (He was wrong, fortunately, but we still somehow got blamed even for attacks that didn't happen.)
We KNOW that austerity will further depress this economy. We KNOW there is no magic turn-around coming our way. We KNOW that the pugs will make things worse.
So tie the outcome of everything they do to the bad results we know are coming our way. Don't OWN the polices by signing on to them. Oppose them.
(Unlike Bush Terra War and the giant choice octopus, this has the added benefit of being valid cause and effect analysis. The economy is fucked no matter what but the pugs will only fuck it further.)
