DUers who just lost their Blue Dogs and anyone else in Red State Hell.
What do you think about partnering up with a community in a Blue area? Sort of like "sister cities"?

I don't think we all can network enough, and having a Blue partner might help come election time -- with focusing resources, from moral support --> a few bucks --> help with calls.

Whaddya think? What is the down side?

If it catches on, maybe Skinner would give us group where we could spitball ideas and check in to see how things are going.

4. The idea would be to help our progressive DUers in RSH
with their progressive candidates.

6. I figure the DLC has electing conservadems covered.
They don't need my help. :)

But partnering up means, we could multiply the resources our progressive friends in RSH have at their disposal, plus it would be more fun to work on it together.

9. I'm in.
Tennessee just got SWEPT by Thugs.

Except, of course, the one and only liberal we have: Steve Cohen, who STOMPED his opponent.

Well, okay, you're in then. When this thread is done, I'll put up a list of people who can be partners.

10. This is a great idea
I was feeling bad because my blue dog lost and it turned out he had voted for HCR after all. I was wondering the exact same thing -- how to get another Dem elected.

15. I bet a lot of people feel that way.
If we can partner up, those of us in blue states can learn something and maybe you folks in red states can get a hand with whatever you decide to do next. :hi:

19. I am in very blue state
NY to be exact, but in a partially red area, which may slowly be turning more blue. The history of this seat is that up until 2006, it was held by a Republican, then Kirsten Gillibrand ran for it, and was trailing up until a week or so before the election. Then a story came out in the media about her opponent Cong. Jim Sweeney, that his wife had called the police to their home. Well, after that he was toast and Gillibrand won. Then she easily won reelection two years ago and then when Hilary became Secy. of State, Gillibrand was chosen as Senator. Gillibrand's political career has been meteoric. I wouldn't be surprised if she was a vp or pres. candidate some day. Scott Murphy, our current rep, got 49% of the vote to 51% for his opponent Gibson.

Anyway, the last time I checked Murphy was ahead so I didn't think he'd have any problem winning. Now I'm feeling guilty about not helping him. It started me thinking something similar to what you said -- for the next election what would be the best way to help a Dem get elected in this purple area. I think sharing ideas, tactics is a good idea.

that they'd won. Living in DE I saw many of the ads and know a lot of what's going on up there. I was pulling for Sestak and Onorato. I thought Sestak was gonna pull it out.. :-(

22. Good idea, so long as the blue state people listen to the red state people
Instead of just being judgmental and telling them it is because they don't run progressive candidates. I am in a blue state and we were able to work on out of state campaigns, we were in such good shape - the Rs took care of it for us by nominating that nutjob O'Donnell.

24. Exactly; most Blue state people have no idea whatsoever of
what it is like to be a liberal in a red state. There's a special kind of public crazy that oppresses us, sometimes quite literally (deep, deep red Maricopa County, Arizona here).

28. BTW, I did some work with MMOB back in 2004 and got at least one GREAT idea
from them; we wrote letters with our kids to other red state single moms to GOTV for Kerry. We even had parties and let the kiddles decorate the letters with glitter and markers a bit; great fun! Definitely something Blue staters can do for us.

I still exchange Christmas cards with three of my new friends.
