Compromiser in Chief? Or Unwilling to Bend?
It's amazing how far apart the left and the right are in their perceptions of President Obama's willingness to find common ground with Republicans. Some liberals are ready to "primary" the president from the left, while conservatives don't think he's compromised with Republicans AT ALL. How can both be true? Or is it just that people made up their minds about Obama years ago, and are unwilling to stray from preconceived notions?

Welcome to Crazytown.

1. "people made up their minds about Obama ... are unwilling to stray from preconceived notions"
For the most part, that one. Most of the same people around DU who spend their day Obama bashing are the same ones who've hated his guts from the beginning, just as much as the Republicans did.

3. Or they voted for him based on what he promised
and then had their hopes dashed again and again by this fierce advocate.

Voted for him. Get it? Voted for him because of what he promised. Get it? Voted for him.

Didn't hate him from the beginning. Voted for him.

Now where do I go?

7. People blind themselves to the other side
By not talking to the right and shielding themselves from hearing their opinions, they start to create their own reality. This board is full of people who think there are not Republicans and sneer when you point out that bashing democrats helps Republicans.

The think that we own the media. We think they own the media.

They have the same victim mentality - the liberals are running this country, we are in deep shit. We do the opposite.

When it comes to compromise, the left just does not see that the right ever does. They take every small victory of the right as a complete victory of the right. They take every small thing the Dems don't get as a betrayal from the Dems.
